Wow!! I always thought that muscat had the huge South east asian populations. I went there about 5 years ago and i think i saw more of them, over the locals!!!!! I cant believe they cant fill flights to those destinations,....

What really needs to happen is for them to do a complete overhaul and get on par with the likes of EK, EY AND QR. If they were operating in the US, their level of service would be fine.

I keep thinking... Wouldn't it be better if GF solely concentrated on its BAH hub? Muscat seems to be complicating things and making the airline more difficult to manage?

The 20% owned by the Oman government means MCT will act as a hub until the BAH government buy the remaining shares.

A single hub concept focused on BAH has to be the way to go. GF should now look at more code share agreements to draw transit passengers into the Gulf area.

Yes one can tell from the way in which these flights have been re-structured that the airline is adopting the single hub policy of focusing more on BAH than on MCT as its inveitable that Oman Air & the Oman Govt is going to kick them out of MCT.

FYI, DAC/BKK/MNL do not see the refurbished A 343s...only KUL does in Asia.

I wonder if they have looked at converting some of the B767's to freighters as I'm sure they would find a lot of business plying the regional routes.

It says on another website that 4 x B767's are staying on until March 2008 but only used on a stand-by basis, seems a poor idea, cash wise, to have near on 50 pilots sitting around on stand-by.....

Its much needed through the big influx of Umrah, Hajj and Labour traffic that will take place between Sept and January.

So, where exactly are they sending the refurbished A340s, now that the SIN/SYD route is no more?

LHR - daily

DEL - daily

JED - double daily

KUL - 5 times a week

BKK-DAC-MNL-CAI will get the old A 343 inflight product.

The A340's are going so I can't see why they would refurb them ....

Most of them are not in too bad a condition but being replaced with A330's

Etihad have just announced that they are bringing the launch of the AUH/DUB service forward by one month and now launching on July 2nd.

If the loads on GF were as good as discussed, this will have to go daily sooner than later.

It's nice to see Gulf Air consolidate and cut back to a "mean and lean" operation. Hopefuly, the reward$ will be big. The whole of Bahrain and Saudi Eastern province is counting on GF to live up to the challenges, and that includes improving their OTP performance drastically.

With the airport expansion at BAH too, this gives the Kingdom a golden opportunity to get it right this time.

BAH-CAI has been 9x weekly since S06 which remains unchanged; daily A343 (GF71/70) and 2x weekly A320 (GF79/80). The airline also code share on EgyptAir's 3x weekly CAI-BAH A320 flights. The two carriers have a strategic agreement to fly passengers CAI-SYD via BAH.

Bahrain has offered EK as many slots as it likes , seems a strange way to support the 80% share in GF Sad
