Congrats to all the hard-working Delta employees on this site, and worldwide. You're the reason day in and day out a lot of us fly the airline that is ready when we are.

Congrats to all the Deltoids (of which I'm a proud card-carrying member) on this site who have stood up and fought for the old'gal from the south.

Love her or hate her, there is something about Delta. It may be polarizing, but we all love to talk about it.

Here's to Monday - the official end of Chapter 11, the rebirth of a new spirit of Delta, the new livery, and all of the exciting things that will come to light for many on here in the very near future.

Delta expects to have a market value of about $10 billion, which would make it the second-largest U.S. airline by market value after Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV.N

This is surprising to me. Even more than AA and CO?

Quote:

Surprise gift

As a parting gift, Delta CEO Grinstein, who is leaving this summer, declined any stock, stock options or cash bonuses, post-bankruptcy. Instead, he asked Delta to spend what he would've gotten in bonuses on scholarships and emergency hardship assistance for employees.

His surprising gesture, almost unheard-of in the world of spiraling executive pay, was a hit with workers and creditors.

"It was great that he did that," Moak says.

If only more execs would follow this example instead of milking the company for all they can...

Didn't Mr. Whitehurst say the same thing on the webcast the other day? And thats exactly what Jerry and his team set out to do 19 months ago; and that was to transform the company from the top ---->down. Didn't they do just that?

Yes, we all are clear on that.

Reorganization, clearing the way for the airline’s emergence from Chapter 11. Delta expects its plan to become effective on April 30, once all closing conditions of the plan have been met and the company’s $2.5 billion in exit financing has closed.

Thanks for the clearing that up. How much larger in DL than CO? And when you say "larger" what you speaking on; a/c routes, employees, etc?

Yep. DL is larger in ASMs, RPMs, destinations, routes, aircraft count, aircraft capacity, number of hubs, and soon market value.

Basically, everything they can be bigger in, they are.

I know a lot of Delta employees, and even have a couple family members that work there too. I can tell you everyone is extremely excited about the exit. The boost in morale really shows. I think Delta has the best employees amongst the legacies and possibly the best in the country. We got things done while in bankruptcy, we didn't just sit around like others, and it is now paying off...

Huh? Very doubtful... DL has to have the courts approval for anything and saying that I would think it would be public knowledge that someone could find if indeed DL was looking to buy the 787 soon.

They will be bringing the Wall Street bell to ATL to open the trading session. I think they are going to do it in the Atrium of the terminal. Then it will be flown back to NY where we will also ring it at closing. At 11 am Jerry will be unveiling the new color scheme at the TOC. There will be a circle flight of ATL sometime around 1pm. It is an employee only event.

Hi,

I heard that Delta requested for a new listing at NYST so that would also mean there will be giving out new shares!

Does anybody know what will happen to the current "old" shares when Delta is going to exit BK?

Thanks for your comments

You are right, Delta never did have the 747-400. That is why I said the photo was of a model (not an actual plane). Delta retired its last 747 in 1977, years before the -400 ever came out.

Etrade.com, and You have to have an account to get a valid quote, i.e., either use Etrade Pro for current buy-sell quotes, or the standard platform to put in a buy order. Again I have not seen anyway to get a valid quote otherwise. Should be able to do same if you have account with any major broker.
