EgyptAir Increase JED And IST Flights

Sat Apr 28, 2007 2:41 am

Jeddah

On the airline's busiest international route, a fourth daily A330-200 flight has been added. Initially flight MS665/666 will operate on a twice weekly basis, increasing to 3x weekly in June and 5x weekly in July.

The schedules for the route are as follows:

CAI JED MS665 12345-- 04:00/06:00 2hr00min 0 A332 <-- new service
CAI JED MS661 1234567 08:30/10:30 2hr00min 0 A332
CAI JED MS671 1234567 15:30/17:30 2hr00min 0 B777
CAI JED MS663 1234567 23:30/01:30 2hr00min 0 A332 (except Friday with B738)

JED CAI MS664 1234567 02:30/04:40 2hr10min 0 A332 (except Friday with B738)
JED CAI MS666 12345-- 07:05/09:15 2hr10min 0 A332 <-- new service
JED CAI MS662 1234567 11:30/13:40 2hr10min 0 A332
JED CAI MS672 1234567 18:30/20:40 2hr10min 0 B777

The airline competes with Saudi Arabian Airline's 5x daily JED-CAI services with B744s/B743s/B777s.

On a side note Egypt and Saudi Arabia operate under an open skies agreement. The only other country Egypt has such an agreement with is Yemen.

Istanbul

From 04JUN07 the airline will be adding 2 new evening A321 services to IST to complement the current daily afternoon service.

The schedules for the route are as follows:

CAI IST MS737 1234567 12:10/14:10 2hr00min 0 EQV*
CAI IST MS735 1-3---- 19:25/21:25 2hr00min 0 A321 <-- new service

IST CAI MS738 1234567 15:10/17:25 2hr15min 0 EQV*
IST CAI MS736 1-3---- 22:25/00:40 2hr15min 0 A321 <-- new service

*EQV = 5x A320 and 2x A321

Incidently TK will also increase their IST-CAI fights from 7 to 9x weekly A320 flights. Both airlines code share on one another's flights.

Are you referring to JED or IST?

For Jeddah, fares are expensive considering it is only a 2 hour flight. Even though an open skies agreement between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, only MS and SV operate on what is the busiest Middle Eastern market. In addition both carriers enjoy significant co-operation including code share agreements on the CAI-JED/RUH/DMM/MED routes.

With regards to Cairo-Istanbul, the fares are significantly lower than JED. There is more competition on the route as charter airlines fly CAI-Istanbul (albeit to SAW not IST) and there are opportunities to connect via intermediary airports like LCA, ATH, AMM, etc. The route tends to cater for the outgoing market as many Egyptians travel to Turkey for leisure and more recently business.

As mentioned in the threadstarter TK will add 2 new flights on the route with the following dates/times:

Friday and Sunday IST/CAI 10:30/12:45 and CAI/IST 13:45/16:00*

*TK are yet to upload flights

As MSYYZ suggested, if you want to get an idea of fares ex-Egypt try www.egyptair.com.eg

No one ever connected to IST via LCA. You can be sure about that  Smile

Great news though.. So we will soon have 18 weekly flights between IST and CAI. I am still looking forward to all year around IST-SSH flights though. At least once a week and twice a week during peak times. Turkish people LOVE Sharm but we only have a few charters during festivals and HOT summer months....

I remember seeing a TK A343 in SSH in 2005. It was quite a sight.

Egyptian charter airlines only serve the outgoing market which mainly originates from CAI with flights to Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya and Bodrum.
