I would damned well bet $1000 dollars that the livery will "grow on" about 75% of everybody who hates it now.

Anyway, I don't think it looks that bad...though the tilted widget IMO is rather LCC. However, what's with the blue on the bottom of that 757? I thought it was supposed to be an arc, but the arc sort of reverses toward the front...awful!

I think it will be better as they are more common.

Though how many planes are still painted in the Ron Allen scheme if any?

I've always liked the previous livery, though that one was hated by many here.

For the new one... pff... the tail is still allright, but the fuselage is just too boring. It almost looks as if Delta is afraid to put their name on the plane...

Still... as has been stated before, most people won't care what livery the plane they fly on has...

I think Hugo Chavez will sue DL for stealing the Citgo logo. Same colors as Citgo.

Someone earlier in the thread said this would be a low cost scheme.
How about the present scheme as a lower cost scheme?
Instead if it's truely low cost it will take DL a decade to paint their jets and by then a future management team will be swayed into another paint job scheme.
And this is an airline supposed to be making good decisions in exitiing banckruptcy. When unleashed, will they be able to control spending or end up in BK in a few more years?

While this paint scheme may grow on people as time goes by, it's truely bad and a testiment to how you can spend money on an advertising program and somehow be talked into the "vision" of whoever dreamed up this overblown, tilted Citgo widget in outdated burnt orange colors reminicent of sofas during Carter Administration years.
Obviously, A.netters hate this scheme and DL plowed ahead with it anyway.

This gives me no confidence in DL's plan and maybe others a.netters are right if they start overordering 772LR and 787 aircraft while digging their way out of financial crisis.

What bothers me the most about the livery is NOT that it is their fourth in as many years, and NOT that they are changing as they "emerge from bankruptcy", and NOT that this is the dullest, most unimaginitive, most pathetically forgettable and abstract design ever...

But someone was paid MILLIONS of dollars to puke up this design!!  vomit

I also think that it is classy. Legacy carriers tend not to use "cheap" colorful and exuberant liveries. If you think of major carriers, they tend to have simple liveries that seldom change and that grow on people because they associate the look with the level of quality the airline provides. For instance when i'm in Frankfurt and I look at Lufthansa's livery I like it. But if I didn't trust LH and appreciate their tremendous quality, it really is just a euro white livery with a bunch of gray... I think Delta did a good job.

If they had kept the gravy's colors it would be better. I am a fan of the 70's, and did not mind the interim. The gravy had nice colors and most people liked it, although I thought it was no DL.

This is...so far away from what Delta is to me. Delta is not a dull, bland, and common airline, but a vibrant and elegant one, or at least that is what I hope they would have aimed for. The 70s was hard and tough, the interim was more for business travelers, but kept some spirit, the gravy at least looked high-spirited and more world reaching...this looks like an uninspired copy of US. Oh well.

I couldn't have said it better myself. This new livery isn't all that ugly, but it doesn't represent the Delta that so many of us were hoping it would. I also have issues with the all-red widget. The widget has always had blue in it. It just doesn't look right next to the Delta titles in all red.

Don't have too many answers to those questions. The first plane of each different type will take a while as they have to lay out the design and create templates. Initially I don't think you'll see too many planes in the new livery unless they farm out some of the work.

So, tell me why everybody (or at least many) has been saying that e.g. this livery is so great?

(Sorry, I was trying to copy a picture of a Finnair 752 here, but didn't manage to do it. Never done it before...)

However, my point is that for example that AY livery is even more boring, and also very cold, and uninviting....and people like it. Why?
