Their Scheduled performance wasn't too bad, it wasn't great, but wasn't awful
ok, maybe not the worst punctuality record for last year, just beating Easyjet and BA
(although not the best comparison, especially with their problems at LHR
in Dec due to fog). They could do far better though, lagging behind their main competitors Jet2, Bmibaby and flyGlobespan, and not faring well in comparison with other UK/EIRE based LCC's BE
Like you say, it wouldn't hurt to have an aircraft ready on standby. Monarch actually have an initiative running at the moment called "Every Second Counts" where crew have to be especially aware of their timekeeping during their briefings and when making their way to the aircraft. They have also been trialling a "pit-stop" clean on their turnarounds in the UK for their ZB
flights which has proved successful so far. On the week ending 2nd May 07 they recorded 91.5% of departures leaving on time and the previous week 91%! Monarch Airlines and Engineering have been working hard over the winter to get their punctuality stats where they should be. Good luck to 'em!
