Does the journalist say that the seats have a delay in the movement after you press the button, and does he say he thinks they are uncomfortable? I have a hard time believing that they are uncomfortable, and I am sure the serveral second delay is normal. The food looks pretty good.

he also speaks very clearly about their regional concept. with XQ flying from ADB to a lot of destinations in the East they already entered a new market beside IST. now they aim on ESB which have a new terminal and a very strategic location. but there is no market for point-to-point flights for example GZT to ADA, because a B738 has to much seats for such a route and the per seat costs for a small regional aircraft are too high.

That's where we were....The view is absolutely amazing despite the windows...All planes took off right in front of us towards the sea.. I took a few pictures.. As usual, with my crappy camera but thought you might like them  Smile Here they are...

The IST apron as seen from Home Store cafe...

An Iran Air A310 off to Tehran

A VIM aircraft arriving from somewhere in Russia  Smile

MEA A321 departing for BEY

A TK A340-300 arriving from JFK with 45 minutes delay

A DL B767-300ER departing for JFK with some delay again...

A TK A340-300 departing for JFK with even more delay  Smile Good for me though  Smile All these 3 aircraft movements happened within 15 minutes  Smile

This TK A330-200 just arrived from TLV.

The LH retro A321 arriving from either MUC or FRA. I am not sure where this A/C is based but I assume from MUC as it visited ADB too a while ago...

An SU Tupolev 154M departing for Moscow..

And the highlight of the day.. This SQ B 747-400 is departing for DXB and SIN. I pictures SQs 744 last week on Friday too.. Lucky me  Smile

I don't know what's up with Photobucket or A.net but these pictures appear much nicer on my computer than this post... They appear so blurry here... Still hoe you enjoy them  Smile

On other, rather interesting news, Hurriyet (the biggest Turkish newspaper) claims that a TK A310 almost skidded off the runway yesterday ın IST. There is a video below but there is no actual footage of the event.. Just some interviews with the passengers one of whom was the Minister of Justice  Smile

They also interview a Turkish Rock star "Haluk Levent" who was also on the plane. He claims that the plane was shaking already in the air. Who knows, maybe it was just turbulent  Smile

Note that cross wind landing of the A321 in the video... Looks spectacular and scary  Wink

The title of the video: "Seconds from Disaster". Oh the good old media ...

TurkishWings:

Perfect pictures... I missed IST a lot. It has been around 4 months since I left my hometown.

As far as I can see from the pictures 18R was used for takeoffs and 18L for landings.
Last time while I was waiting my flight to OTP, I saw a TK 738 taking off from 36R and a DHL 757 landing to 36L at the same time in IST. It was really perfect to see those movements. I can't wait to see landings on 18R (unfortunately it will take some more time  Sad )

Finally I want to add that SQ 744 is flying directly to SIN.

Selamlar, resimler super

SQ 744 flights were once a week (Fri) SIN-IST-DXB-IST for a short while only and are not operational anymore.
All flights are are operated by 773 and the routing is SIN-DXB-IST-DXB-SIN
My guess for a 744 is because of the big fair taking place in CAN in April every year and the movement from Turkey to CAN is enormous. There must have been a big demand on SQ.

Actually that is a NW757 aborted landing last Dec. at SEA. Around Dec. 13th if I am not mistaken, it was all over the news here. It is nice to see that it gets used in Turkish tv to supplement the news with no source or credit given. Nice effect also to flip the image on the second portion.

You are correct about the CAN fair and I'm guessing the reason for not being a one off flight(correct me if I'm wrong but they did 2 or 3 weeks only) is the fact that CAN fair is in 2 stages for textile goods and then its followed by a gift fair so it almost takes up the whole month. I have been going to it for 2 years and the amount of people from Turkey is mind boggling. Smart move on SQ to take advantage of the situation. No wonder they are so successful.

The whole thing is screwed up... The paint job, although looks nice, is not accurate. The 734 has one over-wing exit instead of two. The 330 engines are also tiny, the wing of the 310 seems to be right behind the cockpit... And what's up with the new seating plans? When you click on the planes, you can see the new seating plan. Business class on the narrow-bodies seems to have 2+3 seating which as far as I know is not true either....

It would be really nice if it worked properly and the engine since was correct. If you press 737-800 it takes you to A320. Did TK forget that most of their planes have grey on the bottom?
Also the A330 is out of proportion I guess they needed to make it better to fit Turkish Airlines on the side without being too small.

after Lufthansa all members of TK's frequent traveller program 'MilesSmiles' could also earn miles on all Austrian Airlines flights beginning with the 1st of June.
Another step forward into the Star Alliance... I assume we'll see some code-share flights between OS and TK soon.

The people, especially the Turkish guys, seem to be very happy. This is what I see every day at the airport at FRA. Especially the business man talk about more opportunities of connection flights from FRA and MUC and even the ticket prices are a little bit cheaper than before. Everybody is happy to earn miles on all of their flights, TK and LH... Before this agreement people could only earn miles on IST-FRA and later on FRA-IST, but for example their LH connecting flight between FRA-MAN-FRA they couldn't earn.

Another result of this agreement is the change of the mileage program. Even on the Turkish site people gave up their TK card and changed to Miles&More.

I guess you mean YVR (Vancouver) instead of YRV (Revelstoke/Canada), but there is no first class on LH's 346 only business class.

take a look at this site http://www.thy.com/tr-TR/miles_and_s...ogram_partners/mil_tablosu_lh.aspx it mentions how many miles you will earn on LH metal. I find it very unfair that you can't earn 100% if the miles if you're flying in economy.

Greetings all,

Can you chaps clear up a discrepancy that's currently circulating various sites concerning THYs latest A321 please?

According to numerous sites and also the delivery flight plan, THY took delivery of A321 TC-JRE (cn 3126) last Friday (25th), XFW-IST as THY8101. However there have several independent reports that the reg when it left was actually TC-JRF and TC-JRE was not taken up.

Can anyone clear this up please?

I thought it was TC-JRE which was ferried last Friday according to some Turkish online forum's and the current registration list. Only 'skyliner aviation' states it as TC-JRF. So I'm confused now  Smile
