LX will go daily to BKK/SIN (up from 6x weekly). Service commences already in mid-September when the 2nd new/used A343 arrives.

Could we expect more destinations from ZRH with EasyJet soon? And which ones?
Thanks

US Airways is starting PHL-ZHR on 8th of June. It will be a daily, year around route so you'll see them for the winter as well.

I read somewhere (?) that they will codeshare. It seems logical as they are both Star airlines. Though I know that not all Star airlines codeshare with all others but in this case it is most probable. Furthermore there shouldn't be any legal problems because Switzerland has an open skies agreement with the USA.

As the 2 A340's are going to be used to go daily on exisiting destinations it could be possible that Delhi will be the first new destination added by Swiss. I might be wrong but destinations such as SFO or PVG/ PEK would require 2 aircraft? Also LX will need one spare aircraft when it's A330s will receive the new Cabins which should happen at some point in the comming 12 months. I don't know how all of this will work anybody have an idea?

The US flight to PHL drops to 4 times weekly in September. Times will remain the same but the flight will depart ZRH on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Loads look very strong for the summer!

Additionally, There is not yet a LX codeshare number/agreement for US 710/711.
There is however a Singapore codeshare in the works for this flight.

So, i guess we have to wait for LX to make the official announcement.

Pardon my ignorance, but how many A330's and A340's are LX getting?? Are all of them new or are they being leased?? thanks in advance

At the moment Swiss has 9 A 343 and 11 A 332. Within the next few months they will get 3 additional A 343, 1 from AC and 2 from OS.

Hi,

I heard from a buddy of mine in Algeria, who works at ALG, that LX is looking into starting a ZHR-ALG flight.

Cheers,

Unfortunately, No - at least not yet. US has a code share relationship with LH to ZRH, via FRA and that may be the reason.

I think these ZRH news threads should be merged into the Swiss skythreads as to keep everything more organised....what do you think about that ?

I can already see the GVA and BSL locals moaning about all the ZRH posts in the Swiss thread  rotfl  Leave it as it is, doesn't hurt anybody does it? I actually think it's more organised the way it is.

If you want to discuss news about services to ZRH its easier to open a new thread, then search in a thread with more then 100 replies. For me at least....

BTW, I have nothing against Swiss Sky threads!!

Where did you read this? I'm surprised why MEA would announce its plans for 2008 now...

The whole point of having country threads IS to have organised threads . There are already soo many of them we can easily get lost....So there you go .......

Bad call for the obvious reason, read above  rotfl  If you dont like it, dont read it, or start your own GVA news thread if you're so desperate.

This is extremely unfortunate. This AA flight provides great connections to lots of places in the western US. So it seems we are trading DFW for PHL. What a pity  Sad

I am still desperately hoping that UA or LX will introduce a ZRH-DEN non stop flight, but I am well aware that the chances of this happening are minuscule now that LH has added MUC-DEN to its wildly sucessful DEN flights out of FRA.

LX will offer First Class again on their ZRH-ORD flights as of December, flights will be operated by an A340. Commencing with the Winter-timetable on October 28th, the ZRH-BOS flights will operated at a different time: ZRH-BOS (LX52) will leave at 17:25 arriving in BOS at 19:55. LX53 will depart BOS at 21:35 and arrive in ZRH at 10:55 (2 Class A330 will remain).

Good. Hope it performs well year round. I was always surprised that US didn't start ZRH a year or two earlier. Booked Envoy for June and was a bit surprised how many seats were still available there and in coach.

While neither a ZRH SFO nor a ZRH PVG roundtrip can be operated within a 24-hour window while also having the same aircraft ready for departure on the same flight, it is surely wrong to say that 2 aircraft are needed for such roundtrips. For both ZRH SFO and ZRH PVG, the aircraft is aways from the homebase for one night and, by combining these flights with existing shorter singe overnight rotations, one additional aircraft is actually enough to start a daily ZRH PVG, or ZRH SFO, if LX were to be willing to do so.

I think we'd see ZRH SFO before any ZRH DEN, and given previous experiences with ZRH SFO, I believe LX will think long and hard before embarking again on such a venture, although one could argue that, given the UA feed available at SFO, such a flight should have better odds of succeeding this time around. That said, if and when the need arises for additional transatlantic interhub traffic, I wouldn't rule out the option of additional IAD and/or ORD flights by LX and/or UA.
