787 Tail Arrives In Everett

Tue May 08, 2007 11:41 am

787 Tail is now in Everett after being shipped from Frederickson, Washington this evening. Sources inside the 787 program have confirmed its arrival at the Boeing Factory at Snohomish Co Airport. Tomorrow is a BIG day for the program with the roll out of Section 47 and 48 at 2pm, May 9 in Charleston.

Also updated the 787 part tracker page here to reflect new changes. Keep an eye out tomorrow for pictures from the roll out event in South Carolina.

IAD787,

I want to congratulate you on a very professional design on your "787 tails" diagram. That is most impressive. One question I have for you, tho: I see you include Air Seychelles, but not Flyglobespan. Why?

Thanks for looking! That's an excellent question that actually should be directed to Boeing. haha. I was surprised to find that Flyglobespan wasn't listed as an operator at newairplane.com. Air Seychelles is an ILFC lessor like Flyglobespan and I'm not sure why they weren't included. When they add it, I'll update the image accordingly.

Exciting news! It seems Boeing is on the ball and rolling with the 787 project, and the suppliers too. Kudos to all involved. One question, will the first flight of the 787be powered by the Trent 1000 or the GEnx?

Does anyone know when they are being delivered?

Please forgive if this question has been asked (and answered) to death, but with all these sections coming from all these different countries, is it the way things will be done when the Program is well underway? Or is this just how they are putting together the first 787?

BTW...that web site is very nice! It gives us a good view of just how spread-out the whole process is, with respect to the sections and where they're coming from!

Thanks,

Chris in NH

This will be done with every single 787 that is produced.

First 787 Dreamliner fuselage rolls off S.C. line
By JASON RYAN

NORTH CHARLESTON — Vaught Aircraft Industries rolled out the first piece of fuselage this afternoon for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner — the newest generation of airplane that promises improved fuel efficiency and increased passenger comfort.

Vaught is making the rear 23 percent of the fuselage in its North Charleston plant.

The fuselage will be shipped to Everett, Wash., where it will be integrated — along with components built by more than a dozen other suppliers from around the world — into the first Dreamliner.

That first aircraft is scheduled to be assembled by July 8.

Boeing already has more than 500 orders for the Dreamliner from more than 40 customers.

Next stop Everett! (well Wichita first to get Section 41)

Hey thanks! There's a lot of neat stuff on there. I've tried to not duplicate information that is available elsewhere. I always found it so boring when I came across a blog or a site that was the same info as everywhere else. The flight plan features are fun too, I had a blast writing them. Feel free to spread the word around and post the link where ever you'd like.

Thanks,

Why doesn't Boeing, GE, or RR list the thrust ratings for the 787's? Yet Wikipedia lists the thrust ratings? where does wikipedia get that info, since it isn't listed on any of the primary sites? Can you help me out with this one IAD787?? Thanks mate

To be honest, I got those numbers from wikipedia too. Flight international did a big feature on the 787, I bet they came from there. I'll let you know as soon as I nail that source down.

IAD787...Well done on your website. very informative at every point for the final assembly on the 1st B787.

Plus I like the blog done on UAL #3 (ORD-OGG-KOA-ORD). The company I work for does the refueling for UAL on all the islands.

Aloha!

Looking at the 787 tails I only see Continental and Northwest representing the US airlines (other than the lease companies) I wonder who will be the next to order?

Also the website is great, and now bookmarked!

Well apparently, rumor has it that US Airways is about to join the US club. Everything I've read says that it should be announced in the next several days.

Wasn't it supposed to have its first flight on 7/8/7 ?

No, that's the date for the roll-out. First flight will be in the end of August or in the beginning of September.
