Hmmm, yes, they're going to please a few with the red engines.

But they're going to disappoint just as many with the big annoying "LTU.com" that also happens to be on the engines.

Or an "LTU red" version of the Air Berlin striped scheme?

There is also LTU.com painted on the underside of the wing/body fairings, same as Emirates on the 773ER. For what it's worth, I think it is an improvement on 'PI with the white engine fairings.

Actually, AB is going to get the new LTU livery (however with AB titles and logos).

While I don't think it's an improvement over the old livery, the new livery is certainly better with the red engines.

A major improvement those large fuselage title, red engines and longer fuselage red belly. However the large AND too low positioned .com titles on the engines is not tastefully done...too big, alas.

Oh no, they did away with ".com" on the side of the plane!!!!!!!

How am I going to know where to find their website without the ".com" splashed in huge letters on the fuselage? :-|
Without the ".com" splashed on the fuselage I don't think I'm smart enough to know where to look in the internet. Oh wait, they put it on the bottom of the plane, whew! Now when I'm laying on the ground and looking up into the sky and an LTU plane flies over at 10,000 ft I'll be able to read it.  sarcastic

Seriously now, I think this new livery is a bit better than the previous new one.

I much prefer this livery to the old one, but I think its a bit too sam-old same old. What happened to beautiful works of art like Thai or BMI .

Shame all the liveries are going so dull.

This livery is only a test... they will play around a little and try some different options..

Employes will then choose the best option in coordination with AB

Stay tuned for another version! :d

Personally i like this one more  Wink

But I have to admit: the modified LTU colors are horrible. Looks really cheap IMO. The c/s D-ALPI wears is MUCH better.

Personally I think the LTU on the tail is far too small. If you insist on chopping the corners off your logo, fine. Do what TAP did, and make them so big that they wont fit on the tail in one piece. If LTU was about twice as big, and the letters came dowm over the aft fuselage, or the L followed the line of the fuselage things would be much better.

Currently is looks, well, out of balance.

The front titles are good, though.

Brian.

A3xx900, is this for real or were you professionally playing around with Photoshop? I thought the old AB livery is horrible, but the new one you are showing is pretty much on the same terrible level. No such thing as creativity went into that design. It's not even timeless like LH's scheme. I get frightened when thinking about future spotting at DRS.

Please eliminate this brand, it has nothing to do anymore with the LTU I know, be it the livery, the onboard service, the whole concept of this airline, etc.! LTU has slowly become a joke of an airline during the past ~15 years, it is so sad to see what some half-assed retards made with this airline!  Sad

And yes, I agree with LTU932. The curent Air Berlin livery is fantastic IMO and fits on both their Airbus and Boeing jets, I am sad too see that they decided for this POS livery instead of painting the LTU planes in the current Air Berlin livery.

Patrick

PS: I hope that they make absolutely clear on their websites' booking engines which airline is operating which flights. I would be pretty unamused to end up on a flight operated by LTU, with LTU crew after booking a flight on the Air Berlin website. Air Berlin and LTU play in a completely different league when you compare them from the viewpoint of a passenger!

Oh yes, before I forget:

Here is another gem of the Air Berlin PR department:

Their ridiculous English slogans (such as "Fly Euro Shuttle"), or their mixing of the German and English language (such as "Die Businessklasse für alle") is a disgrace IMO. The latest "Die Businessklasse für alle" takes the cake! The word "Business" doesn't even exist in the German language so why combine it with "klasse" to create a mix of German and English?

The same for Lufthansa, they use (even in Germany): "There is no better way to fly". Well, firstly there are millions of better ways to fly than on Lufthansa, and secondly there are at least 30% of all Germans who don't understand this slogan because they lack knowledge of the English language, i.e. Germans who think that "Handy" is the English translation for Mobiltelefon (mobile phone), but apparently is Air Berlin targeting these people, morons like their employees who work for a pittance.

Enough bitching about German airlines. Big grin

Simplay take a look at OLT if you want a good airline slogan: "Wir verkaufen Zeit". <- Just perfect IMO!  bigthumbsup

Norbert ... I beg to differ (and that's a rare occasion as I see our taste is very much alike) Big billboard titles often only work with little other graphical modules, in the LTU case we have the big famous 2000s "fuselage to tail swoosh" ... wich totally distracts from the largt titles, the smaller ones were OK, as were the white engines ... and I TOTALLY dislike the attitute of posting URLs on fuselages ... strange that only "2nd class" airlines do this .. I don't see www.lufthansa.com titles on your average LH A340  Smile
And BTW .. should it be clear that LTUs URL is LTU.com?? If it's that obvious, better drop it!

It is for real (like I wrote only a few more posts above).

It was time for a change anyway, the current AB livery is "sooo 1980ish", while the modified LTU livery really grows on you.

Anyway, it is just the same with every livery introduction, at first everyone howls bloody murder and after a while, when seeing it live for the first time, it is suddenly quite alright (just remember the Deltaflot controversy).

Thanks Mario to share your point of view. When I travel by air I mostly use Duesseldorf as my main port so I see the LTU fleet very often. I do not dislike .com titles on aircraft but only when it is tastefully done, modest advertising doesn't harm. LTU better put only '.com' on their engines, so without 'LTU', that would look creative. Watch this comparison scheme. The fourth design (my own mod) shows how it looks with just .com titles on the engine and the LTU fuselage title somewhat differently positioned comparing with aircraft no. 3 (LTU's official latest design).

Thanks for your trust in my photoshop skills  Smile But I have these pictures from a website in Dutch language and found them in a thread about the rollout ceremony of the LTU new colors a few weeks ago. It showed multiple snapshots of D-ALPI and also these banners which obviously decorated the hangar walls.
If you ask me, I really got to like the new colors of LTU (ALPI version) and the AirBerlin version of them is growing on me. I painted both the LTU A320 and AB B738 for MSFS and those planes really look good wearing these color.

With the acquisition of LTU, Air Berlin has become the 4th largest airline in Europe after Ryanair, Air France-KLM and Lufthansa. Air Berlin is eying to Condor for a possible take over. Btw 2 weeks ago I was at Dusseldorf Airport and I was amazed by seeing soo many Air Berlin aircraft on the tarmac and in the air.

I think it looks beautiful now, the square LTU letters have like an 80's square look to them, my favorite for airliners.

To me this changes makes the design perfect.
