AF A320 In The US?

Wed Jun 13, 2007 8:23 am

A few years back, while flying NYC to ATL, I saw an AF A320, or something of similar size, out the window heading northbound. Not sure where we were, probably around D.C. Do they operate anything that size across the pound, or was I seeing things? It was only about 1500 feet below us, so I got a good look at it.

They operate flights from MIA to several French Caribbean destinations.

I believe AF operates A320 service from MIA to some of the Caribbean islands.

They have an A320, routing MIA-PAP-PTP-FDF-CAY doing Air France's own French Caribbean island hopper service.

AF 3942 CAY 1245-1350 FDF 1440-1515 PTP 1615-1710 PAP 1810-2100 MIA 320 MoWeSa
AF 3943 MIA 0845-0935 PAP 1025-1310 PTP 1410-1445 FDF 1535-1840 CAY 320 TuThSu

Hope that helped  wave

Nice, what is it a 18-hour commute. At least, it is from one paradise to another.

IB used to have up to 4xA319 based in MIA to serve different Caribbean and Central American destinations. When security and inmigration procedures got tough they had to scrap it as a lot of people would lose the connection in MIA.

It's been partly substituted with more nonstops from MAD.

Might it have been one of their all-premium configured A319LRs?

Papeete or Port au Prince? LOL how odd that both have such similar IATA codes and are both AF bases a LONG way from home...

PPT = Papeete / Tahiti
PTP = Pointe-à-Pitre / Guadeloupe.

Crews (Cabin and Cockpit) are based at PTP.

AF does NOT operate any "All-Premium" configured A319LR.

AF' A320 ( F-GKXC) flies to MIA from PAP, PTP, FDF, CAY. If you were flying from NYC to ATL It cannot be an AF A320 : They never fly that North ...

Imagine if there were no baggage-handling-system at CDG how many baggage handlers would put the wrong bags on the wrong flights...

This definitely joins the club of

1)Why Lufthansa no PTV

2)Why NW still DC9's

3)Why IB not better service

4)Why AF dirty planes

5)Why BA no A380

6)Why EZY A319 two doors on wings

7) Why 737NG's no eyebrows

AF does NOT operate any "All-Premium" configured A319LR.

Assume you are referring to the fact that AF's A319LRs have both J and Y seats, rather than all J. However the actual product (called Dedicate) which serves several destinations, mostly oil-related, in West Africa and the Middle East is generally a premium type service, with only 79 seats on the A319LRs -- 28 business class in a 2-2 configuration similar to their longhaul product, and 51 economy class. I believe overall service is comparable to AF longhaul widebody flights.

Yep also another nice narrow body from Europe in MIA is Martinair A320. MIA has always been an intresting airport in terms of European Airlines flying narrow body aircraft. To bad IB had to leave a few years ago.

Maybe you saw AF's MIA based A320 flying to back to France for a major maintenance check or to be subsituted back into normal intra-European flying.

Thanks goodness for those who had to transit via MIA (and do all the customs) and can now fly directly from MAD to certain places in central america
