Which Airline Gets What Delivery Slot?

Wed Jun 20, 2007 9:55 am

How is it decided who gets which delivery slot coming down the line? Delta might order 120 airplanes, but they're not all gonna be one right after the other. Would it be negotiated as part of the purchase, perhaps?

I believe delivery slots are certainly something worth negotiating. It's probably unlikely that DL will take up the entire aircraft order at once, as they might need time to train the crew and DL Tech/Ops for the new type, plus time to phase out the aircraft that are being replaced by the new type.
