Hey guys,
I was at LAX this morning doing some spotting before work and i saw a 744 of Air China sitting on Rwy 25L with the slides deployed and lots of airport vehicles surrounding it. Was there an emergency?
Anyone know what's going on with it?

News reports indicate the plane had a tire blow out or a tire problem; the pilot returned to the airport and landed about 3:30 am.

A little mess this morning.
Air China 984 during take off on 25R blew one or more tires leaving behind a debris trail. Its subsequently returned to land on 25L. Following landing aircraft was disabled on the runway, with passenger having to be off loaded and cargo removed before the aircraft could be moved.
Both 25R and 25L were closed for debris clean up. 25R reopened at 5am, and 25L a few hours later once aircraft was moved and some emergency repairs were made to the runway as the aircrafts landing gear did dig into the concrete a bit.
Here is a news story on the incident. Funny how reporter says NO sparks, were seen, while according to the tower and the emergency responders on the ramp they saw a nice light show ala the Air India B747 landing incident last year.

Its very important for media types to know if a plane lands with or without sparks. Looks like the media blew this one as well.
