Delta MD-88 Window Arrangement

Mon Jul 09, 2007 6:26 am

Hello,

I noticed while connecting in ATL this weekend that Delta's MD-88's have a cabin window on the left side blanked out, about a third of the way back. Does anyone know why this is? I have never seen this on any other MD series. Is this feature specific to Delta or all MD-88s?

Ducting in the sidewall leading to air distribution in overhead cabin; look at pictures of many Boeing types for simular configurations.

I have noticed this on the 737 series, but not on the MD80s. This feature is unique to the -88 then?

This is a option that DL ordered on their MD-80's. They wanted the ground air connection to be towards the front of the aircraft versus its normal position in the rear. I believe they are the only airline that ordered this option unless someone knows something that I don't.
