Dear friends,
I noticed when transiting through Madrid Barajas airport a huge white cross, located on a hill across from the area from Terminal 4. What is that?
Perhaps anyone from the Iberian spotters can enlight us?

it could be Valle de los Caidos, it´s about 50 km from Barajas.
Franco is there with Primo de Rivera both are leaders of the Falange. (ultraderecha) and 33.872 soldiers of the civil war.
it was built by prisoners of the civil war between 1940 and 1958.

But when I was in MAD, I saw a white cross painted on a hill (not a standing cross) near Barajas on arrival. Wonder which he is talking about. It was laying down on a hill (maybe made of rocks or concrete) just an outline. like a letter of the university or town you see on hills around the US.

This is correct. It is a cemetery for victims of the Spanish Civil War. I read a book about the war a while ago which gave some details about what happened there. I will see if I can find it again.

Yeah, the other replyer threw me off with the link, cause it did not show the cross on the hill photo, just the monument photo, which is lower down the hill though. I focused on the white cross
