"On or about April 12, 2007, the Joint Applications entered into a
code-share arrangement with the TACA group which provides for their operation of
certain United Express flights to carry the "TA" and "LR" designator codes."

"...to make these United Express services available for code-share
purposes to the TACA Group, thereby increasing the online service offerings
between United's North American network and the home countries of each of the
TACA Group carriers (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua,
and Peru)."

"to provide online service
between U.S. cities and points around the globe, via United’s domestic hubs and the
TACA Group’s U.S. Gateways."

If not a full member, TACA could certainly become an associate member of the Star Alliance.

I certainly hope it would be a full member. They have IMHO big enough ops in Central America to justify it.
