Much easier to listen to than the ever-yelling, ever-angry JFK guy.
I listen to MSP sometimes when it is just starting the mass of landing around 10:00am and man it cool but I feel sorry that they have to say NWA so much. Wonder if they ever make mistakes when that random non-NWA plane comes in.

HAHA, yeah I did an internship at the MSP tower, and those guys are really really good!!! As for Mistakes when a non-NWA aircraft arrive, nah they just get that much more excited!!!

1. In Part 2, three different pilots complement the controller on the great job he is doing (at 4:24, 4:30, and 5:48). Never heard that before.
2. ATC: "Clipper 125, they got another American pushing out of the alley. They're not ready for you over there yet."
Clipper 125: "That's ok, we've only been in the seats about 10h."

You beat me to it. That's exactly what I wanted to say. The ever-angry guy should either listen to this controller and learn from him, or go see a psychiatrist ASAP.

I think one thing that makes the JFK scenario different from this one is the number of foreign carriers they have to deal with; that seems to induce a significant portion of the stress. These clips were just PSA, PSA, PSA, Pan Am, Pan Am, United, United, PSA...

Yes you do hear that from time to time especially dealing with thunderstorms and deviations, or a controllers brought their "A" game with them that day and did great sequencing and intercepts to final, hear it quite alot from pilots.

I agree with you to some extent, but he also loses his temper toward American pilots/Canadian pilots. I have heard it on a Cathay flight where the pilot not in control had an American accent and towards other pilots on British Airways.

I think it's safe to say JFK in 2007 is a nastier situation than SFO in 1985, even if the latter had more aircraft movements. As was audible from the clips, this was a nice afternoon with calm wind. When SFO had some fog roll in, I'm sure the mood of a few controllers went sour, too.
