Looks good, actually; I like the new livery. I wonder if they'll keep a few in the old colours?

Not likely. It is all the same as air wisky jets.

The pic is the first America West Express CR2 in new colours...the pictures you link to are Air Wisconsin CR2's.

Since America West owns no CRJ-200's the title would have been better to say: "First Mesa CRJ200 in new USAirways Express colors" That would have made more sense.

I saw it in the mesa hanger at sky harbor yesterday (friday the 27th) I dont know when it is going to enter service though.

Here is the most recent picture of it in the database before the repainting.

To clarify this, this is the first CRJ-200 that people who live in Phoenix or Las Vegas will get to see regularly, since Air Wisconsin doesn't fly any of their CRJ-200s to PHX or LAS, just as Mesa doesn't fly any of their CRJ-200s to the East Coast.

The reverse is with the thread where the first Piedmont Dash-8 got painted in the new colors. Mesa Dash-8s have been in new colors at PHX/LAS since April or so, but those people on the East Coast don't get to regularly see them, so the first Piedmont Dash-8 in new colors is news to them.

Mesa only flies their CRJ-200's on the east coast.....and west cost

But with US Airways Express? I was under the impression that US Airways only ran the Mesa-operated CRJ-200s on the west coast, and the Air Wisconsin-operated CRJ-200s on the East Coast. I know Mesa has run the CRJ-900s all over the place, but that's a different airplane. I don't know about United Express and Mesa... they may run their CRJ-200s elsewhere... but I'm specifically talking about US Airways Express.

Amazing how long this switch has taken. At the very least, the Express operation out west should have been the easiest to switch over. America West didn't own any of the planes or fly it themselves...it was just Mesa. It should have always been US Airways Express operated by Mesa...instead of US Airways Express operated by America West Express operated by Mesa. Take some white paint, cover up the AWE name and put a US sticker on there. Branding is key to any airline...getting rid of "America West" should have been one of their first priorities.

The more I see the US new paint scheme, the more it grows on me. Looks great on this CRJ200, how long is it supposed to take for Mesa to completely re brand?

It is. That's why so many of the America West aircraft have been repainted, while relatively few of the old US Airways aircraft have received the new livery.

Ya they did do a pretty good job of getting rid of the America West titles on their planes. It is still disappointing that they repainted all of the great logo jets that they had. When it would have been easier to just take the America West letters off and put Us Airways on them.

True for the mainline jets and ZW, but why so long for a YV CR2 to get the new paint?

Since it's a small fleet, it may be a problem to take any of those CR2s out of service for any length of time.

Air Whiskey painted their jets immidiately because they were coming from United Express.

Mesa used to fly CRJ-200 for US Airways at PHL, but that ended around the time of the merger (but coincidentally, Mesa was still doing business with America West at PHX/LAS).

Mesa runs birds in the east for United but not US. All of the US CRJ's in the east are PSA and Air Wisky jets.

I have to say this new US livery seems to look great on any type of aircraft whether it be big or small a very classy livery !!

I saw now HP mainline liveries left at PHX when I was there.

Having connected through PHX twice in the last few days, I agree that th livery works fairly well. Much preferred to the old USAirways, which I saw some of there. I did like the old HP livery though. Flew on the HP express CR2 from LAX-PHX in the old colors.

I was making refrence to the CR2 operation's. The CR9 does exist though (duh) out of CLT though rumor has it Mesa will not be flying for US for that much longer if performance remains as bad as it is currently.

Who would they get to replace it with aircraft of a similar size?
