New Livery For BA CityFlyer?

Wed Aug 01, 2007 8:49 am

RJ100 G-BXAR of BA CityFlyer is currently flying in all white colours with just the BA Speedmarque and 'BRITISH AIRWAYS' titles. Gone are the dark blue belly and Union Flag tail. However the titles are new as this was one of the aircraft that was repainted with 'BA CONNECT' titles:

These changes are probably not because the aircraft needed repainting as it carried the Delftblue Daybreak tail until late 2004 or early 2005 before it was repainted with the Union Flag tail:

So is the aircraft to be painted in a new CityFlyer colour scheme? Can anyone else elaborate?

Maybe it was one of the two RJ100s that were earmarked for return to the lessor? My understanding is that BA Cityflyer had more or less returned the two Avros before making their mind up and keeping them.

Perhaps. But I believe that RJ100 G-BZAX is still flying in full BA Union Flag colours with 'BA CONNECT' titles, so it seems strange that G-BXAR has been painted with new 'BRITISH AIRWAYS' titles if it is being prepared for return to the lessor.

Maybe the aircraft had been in for checks and they needed it back in service quickly and it would have taken longer to fully paint it or it is due to go back in to maintance soon for heavy checks so it would be a waste of time and money painting it?

Okay, - i have done some research.

My initial thought was correct: G-BXAR was returned to lessor BAE Systems in late March, with G-BXAS earmarked to leave the fleet as well. The plan was for both to be replaced by two smaller RJ85s, but BA Cityflyer then gave it a second thought and took G-BXAR - already in white colors by then - back

Interesting... does anyone know what the future holds for CityFlier? Is it doing well? Or will it one day also end up as Flybe?
