WN Competitors In 93/94

Fri Aug 03, 2007 4:05 am

A friend and I were discussing WN and their business model and the topic of who was WN biggest competitor(s) in 1993 & 1994 came up. The only thing that I could think of was HP. Anyone else have any other thoughts on this.

Lots of airlines were competing with WN, but not necessarily by choice  Wink. At the time, TWA was the only legacy with a significant WN presence at their main hub (STL). AA and DL had to contend with them in the DFW/DAL area, but from a different airport, same with CO in Houston. WN then was still a growing version of their initial business plan, frequent short hauls, underutilized airports etc....

NW was (and still is for the most part) buffered from from a direct WN threat except for a few routes out of Detroit.
