sorry it is 8.7.07 in the US since the US uses Month /Day/Year not Day/Month/Year like most of the rest of the world.

the 787 did roll out on 7/8/07 in the US, but it was never supposed to fly on that date, only roll out.

there are several threads about the 787 roth out from one month ago if you do a seach.

Rather than writing the date progressively (from the smaller time unit i.e., the day, to the larger one i.e., the year), Americans use MONTH, DAY, YEAR, so the 787 roll-out was on July 8, 2007.
Upcoming flights:
May: AM MEX-CUN 73H (Y), AM CUN-MEX 73W (Y).
August: KL MEX-AMS 74M (J), KQ AMS-NBO 788 (J).

Sometime in September of this year, the 787 is suppose to take its maiden flight. First delivery is scheduled for May 2008 to All Nippon Airlines.

These 8 are the test aircraft, and will have to be refurbished first. Usually, it takes a few months to refurbish test aircraft.

These are the first aircraft to be delivered. Line #s 1-8 will be delivered later.

First 6 customers: ANA, Shanghai, China Eastern, Hainan, China Southern. Air China.

Incorrect  Wink The first six are test aircraft, ln #7 will be the first one delivered. Thus, ANA, Air China and so on are the first to receive the 787.

[So does it mean that the firs 20 or so aircrafts wouldn't be for a United States customer ?

When will Kuwait get their aircrafts, how about Qatar Airways (if they ordered)

That's correct. Northwest is the first US airline to order the airplane, and the only one to take delivery in 2008. Continental will take delivery in 2009, and thus far no other US major has ordered the airplane (although there's always speculation the rest will sometime).

Here is a very good resource on 787 orders:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Boeing_787_orders

According to that, both Kuwait and Qatar won't take delivery of their 787's until 2010.

The thread title states a date of 7/8/07... a full month's difference from the actual date of 8/7/07. Read folks. Read.

Has any of the ground testing started yet? When is the first taxi test? When is the first high speed rejected T/O?

It's important to keep in mind that this is the order of line numbers NOT the delivery order. Boeing will have as many as 40 787s ready to go for delivery by certification and EIS in May 08. ANA will be first, but LN 15 could be delivered before LN11. Not to mention, airlines may take them in batches rather than one at a time. The delivery schedule is one of the most tightly held secrets at Boeing.

07/08/07, 08/07/07... This is why in Canada most Government organizations write the date in the form 07/AUG/2007. No mistaking it!

Because we abbreviate it in the same order that we say it: August 7th 2007 = 8/7/07

Perhaps much of the reason is due to the way the English language works... in Spanish for example, May 5th is said "cinco de mayo" with the day first, which would then correspond to writing it in the day/month/year format. (I'm not Spanish expert so please correct me if I'm wrong!)

No, you're absolutely correct.

I still get confused, since I learned the European way from my parents, but have to use the American way in school. I've gotten used to just writing out the whole date in the European way (8 August 2007 in English, too).

Likewise!

Back on topic (sort of...), does anyone know what route NW will fly its first 787s on? Specifically, will JFK be involved?
