Amazing 727 Video...turn Your Loudspeakers On!

Wed Aug 08, 2007 7:31 pm

I came across this video on youtube on a LAB 727 taking off. Turn on your loudspeakers to maximum as you will be able to feel what it was to be next to a 727 taking off. Honestly I felt as though I was just there... simply impressive !

Cheers
BM

P.S For those here who hate me, lets have a drink together and lets get to know each other at least before saying anything bad!

Awesome, 727 is one of my all time favorite aircraft. Sure miss those days the 727s were a common sight on European airports and not only 737NGs and A320.
It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong

And that one is hush-kitted.

I remember back when there were no hush kits- those 727's 732's 707's DC8's DC9's, BAC111's etc. would literally rattle the windows and you could actually feel the noise.
Direct KNOBS, maintain 2700' until established on the localizer, cleared ILS runway 26 left approach.

Wow,

BM, that video/audio is incredible!

Pnwtraveler, nice video too. The left wing tip almost clipped on the ascend after the first pass.

Yuppers..sure do miss the 3 holers.

Tough to describe the absolute feel that the old 727's, 707, DC-8's had.

Hello BM,

If you lived in the Country Club Apartments in Irving Texas back in the early 80's - you would have seen and heard that all week long - especially between 5-7 PM weekdays - Got a little annoying after while. 1 or 2 of them was great but 20 - 30 in a row was well - Ok enough for today

Wow that was fantastic! Thanks for that! I used to live in La Paz as a kid and loved going up to airport to watch LAB 727s. It brought back so many memories. Let's hope they get back in the skies!

SO VERY quiet as compared to British Airways Trident 4 -- with the roar and crackle from the 3 RR Speys, plus the little "booster" -- or, even better, a Dan Air Comet ..
I love to fly, and it shows!

Given the short T/O distance and green areas, it deffinitively is not LPB: It is a looooong. runway, dryyyyyy area, and surrounded by snowcaped mountains. I would guess the movie was taken at VVI.

This vid is the first flight of the oldest flying 707 after a 6-year restoration (Qantas 707-138, first flew March 1959). That is one smoky and noisy airplane! Turn up the volume and hear the distinctive fan whine of those JT3D's!

I guess I can consider myself lucky that here in CYOW we still get the old JT8 powered birds flying courtesy of Canadian North(737-200),First Air(727-200 & 737-200),Cargojet(727-200) and FedEx(727-200) and all on a daily basis.I can remember the days working Canadian Airlines 737-200's and we would have a flight come in from YYC and continue on to YUL but it had to beat the curfew in YUL.It's definately something to see a lightly loaded 732 take off from runway 07 here in YOW on it's way to YUL.They would stand it on the brakes and throttle up and let her go,and the noise would just be awesome. The only thing that could top that was watching a CF-18 leave at midnight after fuelling it,full burner take off and was probably still within the airport boundary when he got to 20,000 feet.I'm attaching a link that is off of youtube of WestJet's retirement flight of the 737-200.The background music is from Coldplay but the noise from the JT8's between 1:30 till 1:45 of the video is awesome.Enjoy.

The last time I flew through Texas, we were at the "hold short" at IAH while a FedEx 727 staged on the runway. Damn near rattled a relatively new 738 to the core.

Good times... good times.

Even though Cappy (probably) had nothing to do with the place in line, I thanked him for getting a good view (and a rattle) out of that 727 as it throttled up and shook the hell out of our plane. He seemed to enjoy it as much as I did.
We can agree to disagree.
