Lufthansa Long Haul Questions

Tue Aug 14, 2007 12:47 am

I am not sure if this has been asked but I tried a search and couldnt come up with anything, but is LH going to be installing PTV's in Y to fill in those gaping holes in the seatbacks on the A340s and 330s? And if they are, what is the progress on them?

I am considering a trip to MUC this fall and I am torn between LH and US. Anyone have any input on the service/food/etc.. I have heard the US A333's are pretty nice but I would like to try LH too as I have heard good things as well. Also, how hard is it to snag a non-rev upgrade on LH and on US?

edit: i guess someone else was reading my mind, someone else posted a thread about said PTV's being installed in Y on LH. However, my question remains about the service and food etc. on LH as well as US. Any input would be appreciated!

Well, this is my very personal experience:

During the last three years, I have been flying across the pond quite often. Unfortunately, in my personal experience, US does rank at the bottom in terms of service. I'd prefer LH if it is a choice between the two. AF was my most pleasurable experience in terms of inflight service, especially food, but CDG is such a mess that I'd rather avoid them in the future. Another good choice when travelling to Germany has been NW/KLM through DTW and AMS.

Cheers,

R

That's pretty much a no-brainer :LH is far superior, not just onboard service but otherwise as well. I'm not sure about the non-rev upgrade but I would only fly US as the last resort (well not even that).

You must not fly very frequently on international flights.

Sorry, I'm just a bitter international traveler cursed with a congested megahub of the worst US airline (PHL)  hissyfit

Well I am a ZV (US-X) employee and I have yet to fly internationally. I ask about US simply because I can fly for next to nothing on them. Also, there is a direct CLT-MUC flight so I can avoid PHL for the laundry list of reasons already known to everyone..

PiedmontINT, etops1 would be a good one to answer. As far I'm concerned LH is STAR alliance so it should be same as traveling with us. FutureFo is another good source.
