Can Anyone Identify This Picture?

Fri Aug 17, 2007 11:11 pm

The BBC website gives the following caption to the picture below:

BBC News website reader Gitobu Imanyara sent in this picture of people rushing out of the way of a plane in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where air travel is often the only means of transport around the vast country.

I believe this is rather a screen shot from a film. Does anyone know if this is correct and what the title of this film would be?

Thanks!

The page where the "photo" probably originally came from: http://www.ruudleeuw.com/vbout18.htm

All I can say is "duh" to the BBC. They've been hoodwinked.

Looks like the same plane they used in "Con Air," only with a different setting.

Plane in Thread starter and in "Lord of War" is an Antonov AN-12, Plane in "ConAir" is a Fairchild C-123

Cheers
If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!....well that might have changed!!!

The plane, indeed, was an An-12 registered as 9Q-CIH. It was previously registered as 9L-LEC. Same plane and according to what I can find, also the same owner. It crashed on 8 January 2005 with the loss of six crew.

Yupp thats from Lord of War. Intersting is the fact that after it lands the locals just tear it apart in a matter of hours

Everything must go!

Good god, I highly doubt that even the most competent mechanics could do this for a D-check...

...Of course, now that I think about it, in a D-check, you gotta be able to put it back together; which the natives here have no intention of doing, haha.

So BBC News is publishing a screenshot from a Nicholas Cage movie as a real photo? Embarrassing

Indeed, and a nice bit of copyright infringement also.
