Unidentified Aircraft In DEN

Sat Aug 18, 2007 3:18 pm

I was in DEN today and saw an all-white overwing prop jet with purple nacelles between B and C concourses. Does anyone have any idea who this may be? Anyone able to say what kind of aircraft it could be?

Thanks for the help, I don't know so much about the prop jobs...although I think I may have flown on one...what was Horizon flying in 1998 that had single class 2x2 with leather seats?

That's a Barnie Plane, as Mesa Pilots call it. The reg is N444YV. It's the one in the very back on this picture.

That would be the one! Thanks for the help, I was caught off-guard at seeing it. I saw it did have a reg#, but it was too small to be seen at that distance.

N434YV has been in old UA colors for a while. The white and purple one is N444YV.

That aircraft indeed in Mesa's infamous N444YV aka " Barney "  Smile it is one of my favorites of Mesa's fleet. This is a true fact too, is that there is a stuffed toy Barney the Dinosoar doll that is kept in the flight deck and is often displayed on the dashboard facing out the windshield while the aircraft is on the ground.

True story! I used to see that plane a couple times a week when I worked with it. It did in fact have a barney stuffed animal that was proudly displayed in the cockpit while on the ground. Great aircraft. I miss working with those planes. Odd I know. But it's true.

Two rules in aviation, don't hit anything and don't run out of gas, cause if you run out of gas yer gonna hit something.
