Airlinemeals.net What Happened?

Sun Aug 19, 2007 11:25 am

Just out of curiosity , does anyone know what happened to airlinemeals.net? There hasn't been an update since April.... is this website affiliated in any way to airliners.net?

As far as Domestic service (USA) goes the site is probably still up to date.

April 2007- no meals, August 2007-STILL NO MEALS!  Big grin John.

That website does this periodically where no updates occur for a long time. I submitted an entry in 2004, and it didn't appear until over 7 months later in 2005.

It seems the webmaster is working on a completely revamped site:

I figured there probably wasn't a whole lot of interest in a website about airline meals.

I love this website! It is absolutely fascinating to see the different cultures of the world reflected in on-board service. Also gives the passenger a good idea of what to expect.

I agree it takes a while to update, but I imagine it's just one guy who does it, so I don't blame him. I wish the site well and hope it continues to thrive.

On the forums the guy who runs the website explained that his father was diagnosed with cancer, so the website was on hold, as his priorities lay (quite rightly) elsewhere. Now he's working with a programmer to automate the site.

Quite the contrary. I think this website and its owner/moderator became a victim of its overwhelming success. Probably started as a whim and a hobby. This site has generated alot of interest and attention the world over. It became a full time plus occupation.

LOL...

I guess that depends what an individual refers to as a meal...

An heated fist size piece of frozen pizza, with a few pieces of lettuce for salad may not be a meal to some people..

Its an interesting website to americans that love to fly and cant afford First class; they get to see something nonexistent on U.S. carriers in Y class because of "high costs".... A MEAL ... GASP !  Wow! Nice to see what were missing out by living in a nation with a retarded and obviously far from customer centric airline system. To bad the site hasnt been updated though. Hope the guy's father gets well though.

Actually there's quiet a large interest in airlinemeals, SirOmega!!!!!! It might not be something you're interested in, but like many other's I enjoy it very much and it's very interesting to see how the times have changed, where airlines have made remarkable cutbacks (the U.S. for the most part) and or improvements. The reviews are awesome and sometimes are quite entertaining. It also gives passengers an idea of what might be served on an upcoming trip.

I too hope Marcos is okay. He's a sweet guy and very geniune. I hope we'll see many updates soon. If you're reading this Marco, we miss you.

I must have missed BWAFLYER's response post prior to adding my own

Marco is a legend. My thoughts go to him and I offer my best for his fathers speedy recovery.

100% Agreed...  thumbsup

Is a piece of bite size pizza, and a tiny sandwich a meal? I thought at best they would only be considered a snack..

His father had cancer. It was a great web site. Who knows if he will ever start it again. It must have been a lot of work and I believe he gets no revenue from it. I did not see any advertising on the site.

Didn't look far enough into the site, but I was thinking about adding pics of a few meals during my recent BR flight, just didn't have time to organize my pics yet. Some of the meals are simply amazing, especially from countries where flying is still a luxury and a privilege (Tajikistan) and you were fed so much food on short flights, it's not even funny.

Viewing the pics, I'd say my favorite airlines based on meals will be Jet Airways, not only are portions generous, they do that even on shorter flights, really miss those days in Far East 20 years ago (CX and SQ).

Correct. The website is run in addition to his graphic design business. He does have a few helpers who donate time to running, but it's not enough.
