Question About ARN-HAJ Route.

Wed Aug 22, 2007 5:08 pm

Hi .

I have a question for you A.netter. I have flew ARN-HAJ/HAJ-ARN some times with HLX, (the only airline on that route from ARN) and the flights has almost been 100% full every time.

So my question is why has not other carrier start this service which HLX has operated a while. Is it because other airline cant offer low prices as HLXs fares or what is it.

With HLX being a LCC, their cost base and is very low. It is therefore probable that yield on these flights is equally quite low. This ensures full aircraft, but not necessarily profit. HLX 'top up' their earnings on this and many other routes, from their ancillary products, such as Buy on Board catering, etc.

Unless there was a huge demand, another carrier would only dilute the market, risking one or both of the carriers on the route's long term operation. A 'mainline' carrier would likely have too high a cost base to make this work.

I don't know the market, but is it largely toruism or is there significant business links between the cities?
