Why No Direct MUC - SIN Flight?

HI all.

As far as I know there exists no direct flight from Munich to Singapore. Any reason for this? As Munich airport keeps growing I could definitely see the potential for such a route, given that both cities are big Star Alliance hubs. Plus, it would be wonderful for us poor folks living in Europe's outer rim if there was the possibility of connecting through MUC rather than FRA if we have to transit through Germany on our way to SIN.

Thoughts?

Yes, a flight to SIN is still missing in the MUC timetable, and I also wonder why. There was a flight until 2002 or 2003, IIRC it was LH flying there with the A343.

Maybe when SQ get its first 787...

Didn't SQ operate SIN-MUC-ORD at one point? Or was that SQ Cargo?

As far as i remember, there used to be a direct MUC-SIN service on LH a few years back. Guess it didn't work out as they
fly that route from FRA and that one goes onward to JKT.

I assume there isnt enough business for LH, however I could see SQ flying that route. With there onward network out of SIN it could work.

SQ ORD flight was routed via AMS. The flight was suspended during the SARS outbreak, along with Vegas.

Well does anyone know if a MUC - SIN route is on anyones horizon? MIght the problem be that neither LH nor SQ have any spare aircraft to use on the route?

well, as MUC and SIN are both Star hubs, there's no doubt it must be on the horizon of LH and/or SQ. there are reasons why it is not served (yet).

yes true but if there are great connections to FRA and the demand is not that great for a new route, then why not have connecting flights from MUC to FRA to connect onwards and vice-versa
