US 733s Leaving Fleet

There are currently two 733s parked on the US m/x ramp at CLT which have had titles removed and are awaiting either a return to the lessor, storage, or a sale (I have no idea which). Does anyone have the registrations?
I can't decide whether I miss the tulip or the bowling shoe more

This is a bit of a misleading title...one might be led to believe that ALL of US' 733s are leaving the fleet, not just these specific two you're inquiring about.

Of course, if US' 733s ARE leaving the fleet and I haven't heard about it, never mind.

If not, change the thread title.
Picked a hell of a week to quit sniffing glue.

Perhaps "US 733s beginning to be retired," as I recall people on here posting that US intended to have A319s and A320s. But then, I don't know the accuracy of those statements...

E-190s go from PHL to BOS, YUL, BDL, ATL, DFW, PVD and ORD most days of the week (the ORD flight is the last US ORD-PHL flight of the evening); CLT, MSY, BNA, MHT get them on the weekends. All flights are to PHL with the exception of a Saturday-only PHL-CLT-MSY-PHL routing.

Damn, I had just gone through all the 73s earlier this week to see which were the next up for paint. I did notice two had unlinked routings and were at CLT. I thought they were going through some heavy MX at the hanger. I'll have to look again to see which two are waiting to be picked up.

US 733/734 are definetely showing there age. I am a Boeing fan, but for the trips that I do on US I really enjoy the RW E170/175's operating under the US Express banner. I wish that the 733/734 get swapped for E190's ASAP out of CLT because I truly enjoy riding those E-Jets.

All former America West 733s have been repainted - none remain in old HP colors. Not sure on the former East metal, but the ones you saw at LAX were former HP.

There always seems to be 2 or 3 E190s at BOS. Are you sure there aren't more destinations that US flies the E190s to from BOS? Also, how many of the E190s are in their fleet now?

US has already dumped over 50 737-300s. So they've been retiring a ton of them.

More interesting to me is, US has taken only 5 E-190s in the last 9 months. I would have thought they would have 15-18 of them by now. What the hell happened? Are they retiring 1 733 for every new E-190? The pilots sure wouldn't like that. The 733 pays more.

Has the E-190 vs 733 retirement become a political issue between pilots and US management?

I flew a US E190 from PHL-MHT two weeks ago. Pretty nice plane. Very comfortable.

We're getting one E-190 a month with the exception of Feb-08 and Nov-08 which will be 2 a month. As far as I know it will be like this until Nov-09 by which time we'll have 30 E-190s.

We should be getting the sixth one in the next few days.

I love me some US 733s.... The sound of 733 flaps extending is music to my ears, but I have to admit... I was on a US 733 from CHS to CLT back on August 13 and the old lady sure was showing her age.... Not to mention the fact that a lavatory problem had the aircraft smelling not all that fresh...

Its sad to see them go, but it seems to be time.

Don't forget PHL-BDL still has one E190 on it.

I believe the US 733's are among the oldest and hardest-worked 737-300's built. Small wonder why they are being retired and likely to sent out to desert to be salvaged for parts for other 737-300's (e.g., WN's large 737-300 fleet).

...though the timing is about right. Remember that US (then USAir) was one of the launch customers for the 733, while Piedmont was a launch customer of the 734. As you recall, the two merged, and between the two of them, is probably the oldest classic (or as I say-second generation) 737s around. Those are probably the ones going. However, I don't know much about the age on the former HP 737s, so they might or might not be going as well.

US will be returning 2 B733s at the end of September, 1 in October, and 2 at the end of November. The 5 are a mix of East and West aircraft.

Some of the ex-US 733s have been finding "new" life in Asia. HNL gets them as they stop over on deliveries to Asia. Most of them are all-white, bearing their ex-US N-numbers. Did see an ex-HP 733 pass thru with titles and logos painted over.

The last ex-US 733 was a 733F for Toll Priority in New Zealand.
