CSA's New Company Logo

Hi, this logo has been trademark-registered last week for CSA, probably a part of brand new company
design..now it's only black and white, colors to be revealed yet..what do you think about it?

I really don't know how to look at it..if it's meant as a retro or modern design..
The CSA part on the left looks 100% retro and I like it but the CZECH AIRLINES font is really awful!!!

Let's wait if this is the final version and what the colors will be, maybe it will change my mind..

It looks a lot like the logo for GlaxoSmithKline, but with the old United Airlines typeface.

It does have a retro look to it...

It's not bad, but I think the current logo is nicer and more unique.

I'll wait until the colors are released before giving a final judgment.

Looks pretty good, I like the fonts, but without color, too soon for a final judgement. Keep us posted.

Perhaps they should focus on bringing the company to black numbers first. Secondly, some fleet upgrade would be good too, especially as far as longhaul is concerned. When that's accomplished, they can care about the logo. Start with giving up the abbreviation CSA would be a good idea. duck

....I bet that wouldn't happen, not after 84 of tradition...unless some foreign company buys them and changes it without asking. If Air France-KLM buy them, I believe they will keep CSA brand.

Luckily, I believe that nothing has been firmly decided concerning the logo. Personally, I think it is unimaginative, the typeface is ugly and the current one is far better Smile

I think that for the future of CSA is more important to decide about long haul fleet. According reports from insiders, management decision about is to be published on thursday 13th Sep. Otherwise i do not like new logo very much, hope colors will improve whole idea.

I don't like it. Why the rebranding anyway? I mean, their current branding isn't that old, maybe 20 years or so, but definitely introduced in the years before Czechoslovakia split up in Czech Republic and Slovakia (without counting the slight modification to change Czechoslovak Airlines to Czech Airlines that came as a result of Czechoslovakia splitting up). Still, the current branding isn't really that old.

Now, the new logo in black and white looks nice too. When we see the colours we'll know better what's the idea behind the change, but to me, CSA is trying to portray itself as a higher quality product in the wake of low costs airlines in the region.

From a marketing point of view, I endorse the change in image for CSA, but the the abbreviation, must stay.

That stunning little image doesn't even look dis-similar to Emirates.

They should keep the present logo. I agree it's nothing exciting, not the best one around, but still 1000x better than the proposed wannabe "retro" logo/font. yuck

Don't they have a more pressing and urgent items on their agenda than wasting money on unnecessary rebranding???
Why not ask fellow SkyTeamers from AZ and DL... a living proof that just change of livery will not save anyone from bankruptcy. Especially in case of DL where they got rid of perfectly good livery, only to be replaced by three different ones in 10 years, getting worse and worse with every change.

I really don't know what is wrong with the current livery, It is nice, classic and reflects the country it represents... I would wait to see this one on an actual aircraft to make any judgement. It does not represent too much creativity, but I would wait to see how they will apply it on the fleet.

CA = Ceske Aerolinie
CSA = Cesko - Slovenske Aerolinie

The CSA abbreviation reflects a non - existent country.

Although CSA might reflect a non-existent country, it is also a strong brand. As long as it says Czech Airlines underneath i have no problem with them still using CSA. It is after all part of the airlines history.

I don't see what's the problem!? 100% Belgian owned bank CSOB still uses abbreviation as a brand and the complete corporate name still uses name of nonexistent country in it. The Hussite church uses it as well and a whole lot of other companies.

It does appear that the "C" in the new logo may be a blend of a capital 'C' and lowercase 'R', perhaps subtly representing "Czech Republic"? Just speculation though.

I though it was the special mark above the C that was incorporated in the C itself, but indeed you could see an R in that. If this wasn't a CSA logo improvement, it is now.

It's too frustrating to see one of the oldest airlines that managed to fairly smoothly transform being mismanaged by political-appointees without any vision. Of course we can discuss, whether A310 was a good or bad choice. A choice made pre-November 1989 I believe (same as Interflug). The choice wasn't as much of a problem as the horrible, extremely expensive financing. But that is really a moot discussion today, imho. They should've made a decision for A330 three, five years ago and most of all stop pulling out of destinations such as BKK, CMB and maybe start flying to places like South Korea or Vietnam (given the huge investments from Korea and Vietnamese being a huge minority).
Why keep flying to super-crowded, super-competitive, low-yield destination like JFK?

Well, the 767 was clearly superior at the time...however I meant rather the 737. The A 320 was already around... They said on TV that the 320 is too complex technology wise...

Maybe, but only LOT ordered at that time. Later Malev and Balkan.

CSA, Interflug and Tarom choose the A310 , maybe for political reasons. But, also the A313 was already used on transatlantic flights by Air France, Austrian, Swissair, TAP, Lufthansa and Pan Am ( a major international player in the Eastern Europe market).

Anyway,
I would like to see the new logo applied to the aircraft. And then we'll see.

The story would most likely be no CSA at all. The AF did not back out, if I remember correctly they were told to leave (and CZ gov't bought back their stake) because in just one yeat the loss the joint-venture did miserably and generated huge loss, especially in terms of early 1990s prices. I mean it's huge even in 2007 prices.
Idea of "privatizing" a state-owned company by another state-owned company is crazy.

To be honest, I'm rather unimpressed with their designs. The VG Airlines being an exception.
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with CSA logo/font, if they really want to change something the aircraft livery could maybe use some sort of "facelift" the way KLM did it couple of years ago.

It really does not mean C and R representing the Czech Republic, that special mark above the C letter is what we call the wedge and we pronounce this letter as the English pronounce "cz" = "è", therefore Èeské Aerolinie should be read "Czeske aerolinie"...

That crsa -thing is not a good idea. Imagine all the spotters trying to upload their photos of the rsa A320s... It will be confussing for very many people.

Furthermore, I will never understand why this happens again and again. New managers trying to change the image eventhough the brand name is well known and established. This happened with Condor, every child knows this name as a charter airline. After a certain name as Thomas Cook they returned to the well-known name of Condor. The same happened with a well-known shampoo. After changing the name the selling numbers droped horribly because all the housewives were looking for their old shampoo...
