Southwest Boots Another Woman For Attire!

What is going on over there? Did the Moral "ehem" Majority buy a boatload of stock, or what?

The BUR-LAS-BUR flights are VERY WELL KNOWN in SoCal as the "Stripper Express" where these bimbos fly from LA to Vegas and dance on weekends, then fly back. There is a very good chance that WN might be trying to keep this from becoming such an epidemic that will offend even someone like... me; for example. You gotta believe the 100s of women doing this every week might just be creating a stigma.

When in a seated position the mini-skirt was apparently more "revealing" than it would appear. MSNBC.com has more on this from the woman's Today Show appearence.

I could bet all I have that the person who kicked her out of the plane was an ugly frusrated fat and smelly guy/gal. WTF is wrong with her dressing ????? And I really don't see why someone would be disturbed by that except by jealousy or envy. The nowadays society is making me sick. If one doesn't like what he/she sees, then DON'T LOOK.

Nothing, but you must remember that this is the U.S, and we are sadly not as open minded as the folks in Europe when it comes to such things. I'm surprised "Prudeism" isn't considered a practiced religion here. This is getting awfully amusing.

So the skirt moves up a little while she is seated...Are the people in front of her facing her the entire flight to where they can see up her skirt...While seated, who should be turned around looking up her skirt? I think this is just plain dumb...I agree with an above poster...I believe it was the act of a jealous unattractive flight crew member.

Dos WN still have the "lounge seating". I mean., in that case I would have volunteered to change seat with one of these hypocrites.

What centrury are we living in? Even country music has taken that up and closed files in the 70s already - see "Harper Valley PTA - Jeannie C. Riley. Quote "and she wore her mini skirt up to her moon" ......"the day she sucked it to the Harper valley PTA....."

Didn't you know it's not fashionable to be good looking in the US anymore? We're so overweight that anyone who's thin and good looking is suddenly a threat level red. We can't show off the beautiful bodies God gave us. Ma & Pa Kettle at WN want us to cover up and be ashamed of our bodies it seems... sick.

Actually it is, it's just disguised under various denominational names. This is becoming silly. WN sure has come a long way from hot pants on FA's in the beginning to stationing fashion police at the door of every flight. They are starting to lose my respect here.

As McDonald's, Walmart, and countless other priately owned businesses do, Southwest requires a mininum standard for dress on their flights. At McD's and Walmart, they have the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy. Southwest's policy is no different.

Southwest is not a public utility, it is a private company. They resaerve the rigth to deny service to anyone no meeting their "standards".

I think the girl looked pretty trashy. But as previous mentioned, Southwest's days of f/as in hot pant could be looked at as pretty trashy too.

I don't mean to sound grave here but, on a social level, this is a lot more serious than it seems and shows just how hypocritical our society has become. Making sure passengers aren't offended is one thing. Turning into a moralistic cop and overzealous purveyor of a false sense of decency is another.

Just another group to discriminate against, this country does not make progress with regards to discrimination, it simply changes the players. It is actually becoming very difficult to be treated with respect when you are good looking.

Yes, wouldn't that be nice. But instead looking for any new way to be "Offended". Being offended gives them an opportunity to hire a parasite and sue anybody for anything. That's the 'new' American way, right?

In all seriousness this time, the Stripper Express might be scrutinized by WN personnel just a bit more closely than the average flight just to keep it from getting out of hand. Personally, I wouldn't mind and if I lived closer I would fly it two or three times every friday and sunday night, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than seeing them in their natural habitat and you get free peanuts.

You are probably correct. It's most likely something that is judged on an individual basis.

Freedom of speech, including that written on a t-shirt, is not a right you are free to excercise on private property - such as an aircraft. Freedom to wear what you want is not a right either.

Freedom of what-ever ends the moment you step on private property, irregardless of what or where it is.

Remember though, on BOTH occasions it was other passenger(s) that complained. It doesnt sound like Helga the Keystone hairy armpit WN cop was out on a witch hunt. It sounded like another passenger was bothered and WN took action. Good for WN!

It makes me wonder what exactly happend and what the girls were actually wearing at the time. My neighbor is a WN flight attendant and I asked her about this the other day when the first girl was booted and she rolled her eyes and said "It happens more than you think. We pull people from flights for all kinds of reasons and this is one of them..."

Good for WN!

You're right Southwest has this right to deny travel to anyone for anyreason, but this is becoming bad business. I have yet to talk to someone who truly finds what was worn offensive. I have found many people who are loosing their respect for Southwest. I think this company needs to remember what it does and remember that peoples perception still plays a roll and I really don't see this as good press. Maybe I am wrong and that fine but I don't think so.

RE: Southwest Boots Another Woman For Attire!

I seriously doubt this lady would have been kicked off of Ryanair or Easyjet or any other European LCC for that matter. This is an American issue here. People take offense to the smallest things in this country, and it's pathetic. The world is not coming to an end because someone wears a short skirt. It just isn't. But that seems so hard for so many people to comes to terms with. If people are really not comfortable enough with themselves to just ignore things from time to time, they need to go speak to somebody. I may not condone people wearing revealing attire when out in public, but at the same time, I don't think it's my place to judge people based on what they wear.

What's next Southwest? Are you going to require that women have their clitoris removed before flying and that little girls have their feet bound? This oppression of women should be relegated to the middle ages.

If they do not state what they regard as inappropriate, how can passengers dress appropriately.

Quoting MPDPilot (Reply 45):
You're right Southwest has this right to deny travel to anyone for anyreason, but this is becoming bad business. I have yet to talk to someone who truly finds what was worn offensive. I have found many people who are loosing their respect for Southwest. I think this company needs to remember what it does and remember that peoples perception still plays a roll and I really don't see this as good press. Maybe I am wrong and that fine but I don't think so

You are very right as well. An airline, like Southwest, needs to have (if they don't already, I haven't looked), a "What is acceptable to wear" listed somewhere on their website. It wouldn't be practical to expect the phone agents to have to advise these kind of details, but if they are going to have rules - they should be clearly stated online, and at the airport, and fairly and evenly applied to all passengers.
