Skybus Aircraft Advertising

Does anyone think that an airline would ever have the balls to buy an entire Skybus aircraft and use the plane as a flying billboard? And would Skybus let them do it? As they say, money talks...

I was under the impression that logojets were part of their business plan.

Quote:
“At Skybus, our goal is to provide outrageously low fares to our passengers – fares significantly lower than what Columbus passengers are currently experiencing,” said Bill Diffenderfer, Skybus CEO. “One of the ways we are able to do this is by offering both traditional and non-traditional marketing opportunities – like advertising on our planes. We’re excited and proud to partner with Nationwide, another Columbus-based, hometown company, on our first co-branded plane.”

Skybus is believed to be the only U.S.-based domestic carrier to currently make exterior fuselage space available to advertisers. Advertising opportunities are available on all Skybus planes as well as on the interior of the plane, allowing advertisers to create a complete “brand experience” for passengers. Nationwide will also place branded images inside the plane, including on the plane’s tray tables, overhead bins and restroom doors.

I think what the OP is talking about would be British Airways or Delta buying the rights to repaint an Skybus aircraft to advertise their service.

Which I think would never happen.

1. Skybus certainly has something in their policies about not letting other airlines advertise on their jets.

2. No airline would want their name on a Skybus jet. What if there was an accident? Stories about the crappy level of service on 'Delta' when it was really Skybus - because pax look at the name painted on the side of the plane, not the name on the ticket.

That's exactly what I was talking about. I mainly posted it just as a joke, but with a hint of seriousness to it. Do you think anyone would ever attempt it and would Skybus let them do it?

Why would DL want to help SkyBus's (a competitor) bottom-line?
