The S in the tail is red, neon green and yellow on a blue background? Did someone went color blind? That's almost as hideous as DHL's red over orange! ((((shudders)))) Well... like all the other Spirit liveries, I'm sure this one won't last long.

I can hardly wait to see these birds at KFLL

They actually paid people to think this sh*t up? If they want to reflect their "look" as an ULCC, strip off all the paint and fly a white plane around with no titles and stencil in the airline name on particle board for the ticket counters and gates. This is beyond bad.

At first glance at the drawing I thought it was disgusting, but having seen the real picture on the blog, it looks a hell of a lot better on the real plane.

Are darker blue would have looked better on the tail

Although, I can't believe people get paid a lot of money to rebrand a company and that is what they come up with. We could have done a lot better on here coming up with a new look.

I think it looks much better on the plane than the drawing shows. It fits the ULCC idea perfectly and I prefer it to the depressing gray one that they had before.

Now before we continue bashing Spirit let us remember virtually NOBODY ever books or flies an airline based on the livery. If they want to be cheap let them be cheap. Remember, the lower the costs to paint planes the cheaper the tickets will be for travelers.

The marketing and graphic design people for airlines have NO imagination whatsoever. Can any of these knuckleheads come up with some good...AND original?

Having seen the pictures of the real thing, I have to join the "What on earth were they thinking" choir. The silver/black livery looks extremely stylish & downright cool, whereas this new one looks like the work of a designer who has just been given his first pack of colour crayons.

I agree, particularly the tail...my first reponse to the drawing was "UGH!", while on the actual plane it gets up to "eh..." I was never a huge fan of the current livery - loved the silver, didn't love the logo.

The blue and red says "Delta" to me - they should have gone with different colours, or at least darker (or much lighter) shades. And had the colours come much further up the fuselage - I'm a big fan of cheatlines, but have to admit one wouldn't have worked with this billboard logo - but there's just way too much white right now.

I like it. Much better than the current livery. The tail is my favourite. The fuselage is boring, but non-offensive.

And, on another note, new destinations should start being announced within 3-4 weeks. They will likely be announcing 10-12 by February 2008.

I think you're right. The new livery looks more appropriate for a low-cost leisure carrier and ads a 'fun' look to their aircraft. They're old livery was nice but maybe a little too 'upscale' for this brand.

100% Awful. 100% Awful. 100% Awful!!!!!!

I can see this, maybe, as a marketing ploy for their South America/Caribbean routes and how these colours are mabye supposed to blend, but their paintjob was so unique. I love the current Spirit job, and this change is not good in the least.

As much as I hate it, it fits them. It's cheesy, just like the airline. If they wanted 'fun', they should have taken a look at ATA's old livery.

It's nice, nothing fancy mind you, but nice. It reflects their new service levels, casual and nothing fancy. I hope they didn't pay alot of money for someone to come up with it though.

The design on the tail looks like a hurricane. That certainly doesn't seem like an image an airline - especially one with a hub in FLL and significant operations in the Caribbean - would want to have.

Well, living just a few minutes from the Spirit HQ, I don't have a problem with the new tail logo.

The new livery is perfectly suited to a ULCC, and have to admit that I like it a little, but by no means is it an adequate replacement for the classy "pixel" livery.

Since when does "caliente red" have anything to do with low fares, or "ocean blue" represent friendly staff?

Were they smoking something when they came up with this?

What ever you think of the new colours you have to admit its a cleaner look that stands out more . Unlike the old livery the name SPIRIT actually stands out now ..Before it was smudged in with the pixels making it difficult to see from a distance .. Its not perfect by any means thou i think there are too many colours and maybe different shades and it could of worked .. But i have seen a lot worse out there ..

Why does someone say this in every new livery thread? The airplanes have to be repainted anyway during their regular checks. Because of the reduced complexity of the new color scheme, it will most likely end up saving NK money in the long run.

It's not to bad but they need to redo the SPIRIT on the side of the aircraft, it's to bland maybe if the name was in cursive or some different kind of lettering it would be decent.
