I quite like it apart from the fact there's a big chunk of white in it which makes it very similar to all of the other liveries out there!

Much better than I thought it was going to be... will reserve final judgment until I see actual pics.

Pretty pedestrian though.

When I saw that tail design, I instantly thought of the departed National Airlines II. I'm not a big fan of this design, but I will hardly see it where I fly, so I guess I don't have to worry about it much.

Still, you would think they could do better.

The design on the tail looks like a hurricane. That certainly doesn't seem like an image an airline - especially one with a hub in FLL and significant operations in the Caribbean - would want to have.

Well, it is colorful! But, I am noticing that the basic design is becoming quite common:

Their current livery is, in silver as basic colour, one of the best among the US Airlines, and just a few years old, so why do they change it to this crappy, cheap looking design which even appears to be older than the one its intended to replace?

Supposidly, this is going to be an ultra low cost Spirit. How exactly can you make the existing Spirit even more low cost? If you can why not apply it accoss the entire airline and not create a latin subsidiary???

I like it. It's unique and not like any other American carrier. In this world of airlines all looking alike, it's refreshing to see an airline being different.

I like everything except the weird stylized S on the tail. Maybe if they changed the colours of that, it would make it more attractive. I am also going to reserve judgement on the entire thing until I see it on an actual aircraft, as many paint jobs look awful on a sketch, but when it comes to the actual aircraft, they look beautiful. So, you never know.

At first glance it looked awful. But now I don't think it's all that bad.

Spirit Airlines(R) Unveils New Ultra Low Cost Carrier Brand
Wednesday September 26, 12:22 pm ET
New Colors Celebrate the Caribbean and Latin America Regions

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Spirit Airlines today announced its new Ultra Low Cost Carrier brand that celebrates the colors of the Caribbean and Latin America regions. The first plane painted with the new colors debuted at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport this week.
The company's energetic new colors reinforce Spirit's four brand principles:

Caliente Red - Low Fares
Palm Tree Green - On-time and Reliable
Sunshine Yellow - Clean New Planes
Ocean Blue - Friendly Staff

Repainting Spirit Airlines' fleet also is a strong statement of the carrier's commitment to low costs because repainting the planes saves the company money. The new paint itself costs less than the current colors, and it weighs significantly less, which means the plane burns less fuel. As fuel prices continue to soar, the savings go up even more.

Spirit Airlines will update its uniforms, airport signage, website, and other branded areas to embody the new look and feel, and most of them should be completed by Fall 2008.

About Spirit Airlines, Inc.

Spirit Airlines, Inc. is the largest Ultra Low Cost Carrier in the United States, Latin America and The Caribbean. Its all-Airbus fleet, the youngest in the Americas, flies more than 185 daily flights to 36 destinations. The company is based in Miramar, Florida, and employs 2,200.

First impression: it looks to me like branding for a pack of gum or a can of soda.

Spirit gum or Spirit cola, not Spirit Airlines.

I prefer the existing branding to this. The airbus looks great in the current silver-checkered scheme.

You never know. It might look much better when the have the paint on an airframe. I'll reserve final judgement until then.

Did the CEO's four year old design this one? What they have now is one of the best out there what makes them think they need to change it?

You can't tell if a livery is going to be ugly or not until you actually see it on the plane. Yes, I agree it doesn't look great now, but it may be stunning on the actual plane.

Absolutely hideous! The one they have now is amazing, one of the best in the country. Why again are they trying to fix something that is not broken? And now another airline with that euro-white trash paint.

Its a rather nice livery but why would they paint it on a a320 and not on the 319 o 321? (stupid question) does that mean they are planning to get 320s?

Agreed - do something with the blue and red on top.... perhaps bring it over in an arc to encompass the nose and cockpit too.

Otherwise it's another success for the Eurowhite liveries.

The colour on the tail with he new S logo looks pretty nifty.
