How Many JAL Flights A Day Into London Heathrow?

Sun Sep 30, 2007 7:10 am

Could someone please tell me how many flights a day JAL Japan Airlines operates into London Heathrow?

Am I right in thinking its 2 x daily to/from Tokyo and 1 x daily to/from Osaka?

Which aircraft do they use for each flight?

Are JAL looking to operate any more flights to Heathrow to strengthen their OneWorld alliance? Perhaps to Nagoya or Fukuoka?

Any help appreciated.

1 x daily 777-300ER NRT-LHR and 1 x daily 777-200ER KIX-LHR.

Back in 2000 they had;

2 Daily 744 to LHR
1 Daily 744 to KIX

and I believe 3 weekly M11 to NGO.

As mentioned before they now only have a daily 77W to NRT, and a daily 772 to KIX.

ANA has cut back too. They used to have 5 weekly KIX-LHR, now they just have a daily 744/77W to NRT.

I guess NGO could come back as either a BA or JL route. It has been mentioned on a.net before that JAL are planning on using 787s to relaunch flights out of NGO, perhaps LHR will be one of them. Currently the only long-haul JL operate out of NGO is the daily 772 flight to CDG. I am actually surprised they have not added more capacity to NGO. The new airport offers much better connections within Japan than NRT or KIX.

We send a freighter there several times a week (today, for example, JL6403 NRT-ANC-LHR-AMS). Always a -400, sometimes a pure freighter, sometimes a -BCF.

Why is flight JL6403 routed through North America, can't a loaded 744BCF fly NRT - LHR nonstop?

No, and neither can the -400F and -400ERF, hence the stop in ANC.

No, strongly disagree!

We have to fly via ANC only due to traffic slot-times at e.g. LHR, FRA and/or AMS. In Europe we can't land before 7.00am, and therefore, we have to fly via ANC on the Japan-Europe route.

Europe-Japan (e.g. JL6404 AMS-NRT) are non-stop and over Siberia.

From November this year, completely new freighter service will start between NRT and AMS both ways non-stop over Siberia, with B747-400F/BCF equipment. And these are non-ERF models, and carry about 90 tonnes of cargo without problems.
