Merpati Xian MA-60

Wed Oct 03, 2007 3:31 pm

Hello

Merpati in Indonesia has now taken delivery of at least three MA-60 turboprops from China.

On Sep 5, it was reported here that PK-MZA and PK-MZB have been delivered.
http://airlinersgallery.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
And on another site there's now a photograph of a Merpati Xian MA-60 (PK-MZC) , shot at Denpasar on 30 September.

I'm interested in the routes flown by these airceraft. I gather they are being used on routes east from Denpasar, Bali (Mataram, Lombok / Flores / Kupang, West Timor) but apparently also between Makassar and Mamuju on Sulawesi.

Could someone translate this information?

Would that flight originate on Java or elsewhere or is it just Makassar-Mamuju?

Thanks a lot, B747-4U3.
It appears to be a new route.

Yes, I realize that, but the article I linked to mentions Makassar-Mamuju as a new route.

Here's a little article on the 'debut ceremony' for the MA-60 with Merpati. It confirms the aicraft is used on the eastern routes from Bali.

The MA-60 is called the 'Xinzhou 60' sometimes. By the way, MA stands for 'Modern Ark' according to Wikipedia. Priceless Smile
