LX 65 Goes MX In MIA

Wed Oct 03, 2007 8:59 pm

Hi everyone-
Flew MIA-SCL last night (02 Oct) on LAN, and as I was going through the airport, I noticed that the departure boards showed LX 65 to Zurich as being 'canceled.' Does anyone know what happened? The plane was just sitting there at the F gates when I arrived on CO from EWR, and when we pushed back for SCL at 2205, the a/c was still at the pier. Sorry, didn't get the tail number. Does anybody know what happened? Are there two flights today from MIA to ZRH, or will they just ferry it back?
Thanks!
Nick

This morning when I was going to work around 8:15 am I saw the LX Airbus 330 still parked at the usual Concourse "F" gate and I was wondering myself what had happened?

That has to be HB-IQQ. It had an RTO due to an engine indication failure. Tires have to be changed as well as they deflated on the way back to the stand - don't ask me why though.
Good day to you sir! Please turn left, your seat is in the first row.

Tires are designed to deflate to avoid risk of exploding due to the very hot brakes that result from a RTO from fairly high speeds.
