What Time To Arrive At LHR To Catch Flight To EDI?

Sun Oct 07, 2007 3:02 pm

I have not booked my flight yet, but I am planning on travelling on a BA Domestic flight from Heathrow - Edinburgh in January.

I want to book my flight on one of the early morning flights so I can sample the breakfast!

If I check-in online and print off my boarding pass the night before, how far in advance do I have to arrive at the airport in order to get through departures and walk to my gate?

The flight will obviously be from Terminal 1 and will be at rush hour so need to take this into consideration.

The rush usually starts for domestic security round about 6am, but even then it's not too bad. About an hour before should be fine. I do miss the BA breakfast!

Yeah id be there an hour before too. I think BA have now standardised their minimum check in times at LHR and LGW to 45 mins so it gives you 15 mins to play with.
Tha BA Breakfast is very fattening!!!

Why not buy a much cheaper ticket to EDI with EZY?  Wink Then go to Weatherspoons before you leave, have their massive £3.49 breakfast with some tea and toast, get the easyBus to either LTN or STN for £2, and bingo.  Wink

Exactly what I thought too......but if 8herveg has set his heart on a BA breakfast, then that's what he should have. I noticed last week that a huge new Morrisons has opened near Liverpool airport, so that's where I'll be going next time instead of getting ripped off in the terminal.

Very good idea, and something which I usually do. But I have never been on a BA Domestic flight (I always fly EZY), so I just want to sample it and get on a BA B757 before they're used in Terminal 3.

You will be impressed - the food is good and they give you full service when most other 'full service' airlines would be tempted to give you a cup of water and a biscuit.

Only am 757 to EDI now is the BA1438 due out at 08.55 prev 2 departures are A319s.

In addition for bookings in January there is no mention of full breakfast service on the BA website. Complimentary snacks and drinks are all that is on offer. Mind you with a day trip itinerary of Outbound BA1438 Return BA1459 (Dep EDI 18.05) is priced very reasonably at 89.50GBP.
