Good ol' Edwards Air Force Base, I'm almost positive!!

Yes, that video is almost certainly real. A re-engined 707 - what's the military designation?

My (un-trained) eye says the KC-135 is a huge fake. It doesn't look, or sound very real.

The second aircraft looks legit though.

that was cool, but scary since it obviously was not on autopilot, that takes skill to get that large of a plane that close

This video is no fake!
The French Air Force is notorious for their low pass flights in Africa, specially in Chad, terrorising innocent shepherds or truckers on the roads through the steppe, only some meters above or beside them.

There are tons of videos about them on Youtube.

Its not a B707 variant, but a KC-135R. The B707 is actually a derivative of the C-135, being mostly longer, wider, higher etc ...

French AF operates about 15 (K)C-135R.

I remember a thread about this in MilAv not too long ago. They debunked the first one as probably fake, but the Mirages are very real.

The first one is real. I've seen more videos of that KC-135 doing low passes in chad (or wherever that is).

Gotta love the french AF Big grin

I was almost sure that the terrain matches that of Edwards Air Force Base...as a Bakersfield boy who has driven highways 58 and 395 more times than I care to count, the terrain looks VERY much like the Western Mojave desert.

But not being the videographer, I cannot say for certain.

The KC-135 - the old Boeing 707's - have been re-engined and look to me like a 757 with an extra set of engines.

If there is evidence of French being spoke, then I will yield to the correct evidence.

Actually the C/KC-135 and 707 have little in common other than general configuration.

Definitely French..... listen at about the 11 second mark and you'll hear it.

Plane looks very small when compared to the man standing in shot at the same time. I reckon it's fake. A model, at least.

You're wrong actually, if you pause it at 0:04 seconds, you'll see it is actually quite a ways in the distance, flying over what looks like a congregation of troops, which look quite miniscule when compared to the plane. I doubted this at first as well, but seeing the higher quality video can say that it looks quite real. It is actually not flying as low as it seems, probably at least 100 AGL. At 0:05 seconds you can see that the video is actually being taken from some sort of hill, and the terrain being overflown is below and a bit further away.

It's French all right. @ 00:07: "allez, les gars!" ("go, guys!").

@ 00:11: "là, c'était bon" ("now that was good!").

Incredible video.

I wonder about the KC-135Rs actual speed. My bet would be around 600-700kph ?

Quoting JBo (Reply 23):

Ehmm no, first was the Boeing 367-80 from the C-135 was directly derived in 1954 with EIS in 1957. She was 30cm wider than the -80. As it only could seat 5 abreast it was again widened by about 10cm to become the 707-120 which came into service in 1958.

No it's definitely Africa (Chad if not mistaken). There are numerous other references to this in other forums etc. both for the KC-135R and similar Mirage videos apparently in the same location. I would hope that such events were investigated and that a few of the pilots responsible were severely reprimanded or relieved of their duties. However since many French drivers act much the same way behind the wheels of their cars, that's probably not likely to happen anytime soon!

It's much lower than that. Comparing the fuselage length (136') and the shadow on the ground I would say it's closer to 25-30 feet AGL.
