BOH Info

Thu Oct 11, 2007 1:49 pm

Hi guys. Was just looking on the Bournemouth website and noticed two things. The first is a late flight and just wondering if anyone knew the reason although i'm guessing its a tech issue.

TOM5343 Amsterdam 13:40 Expected Departure 19:30 - departure
TOM5344 Amsterdam 16:35 Delayed-Further Info to follow - arrival

The other one however that is more interesting is the monarch flight

MON8047 ISTRES 18:15

Firstly there is no other MON departure once its arrived and where is ISTRES? I've never heard of it and it doesn't sound real? Does anyone have any more info about the flight?

Many thanks

Istres is very real..........one of the French Air Forces largest & most important bases. The airfield has also been used for testing both civil and military aircraft over the years.

Cheers, seems an odd one for a flight into Bournemouth though.

Quoting BMED (Thread starter):
TOM5343 Amsterdam 13:40 Expected Departure 19:30 - departure
TOM5344 Amsterdam 16:35 Delayed-Further Info to follow - arrival

This be a nock-on effect from last night, Valencia flight was diverted to Luton and a second flight didn't arrive until around 6 hours later than scheduled... Bournemouth has been having some issues with fog, with two Ryanair aircraft holding for over an hour this morning...

Might be able to get some further information on the Monarch flight later!

Istres was used for contaminated runway test by the A380. It's also a back-up runway for the NASA shuttle.
As to where it is geographically, it's just north-west of Marseille city and just accross the lake from MRS airport.

But I don't understand why this flight would be? It couldn't be a previous diversion since commercial aircrafts divert to MRS and not Istres.

Not normally this bad for BOH having fog issues, normally its SOU up the road who gets affected by it. Cheers bmibaby

Bournemouth can suffer from time to time, but not as badly as Southampton.

The Monarch Flight is routing Gatwick-Istres-Bournemouth-Gatwick...

It was actually from Istanbul (SAW / LTFJ) and was operated by Monarch Boeing 757 G-MOND.

Flybournemouth.co.uk was incorrect.
