RG Announces Interline With 6 Intl Airlines

Thu Oct 11, 2007 4:57 pm

"Effective in October, VRG passengers traveling on domestic and international flights can purchase tickets to all destinations served by Germany's Hahn Air, Hungary's Malev, Israel's El Al, Italy's Air One, Mexico's Mexicana and Qatar's Qatar Airways. VRG also recently entered an interline agreement with GOL.

"Through these agreements VRG offers its customers an expanded flight network providing services to cities where the Company does not currently operate," says Lincoln Amano, VRG's Commercial Director. Besides offering passengers the added convenience of having their luggage checked through to their final destination, these interline agreements also simplify ticket purchases through global travel agents or VRG's call centers.

Since September 17, VRG has participated in MITA (Multilateral Interline Traffic Agreement), an IATA network of airlines from around the world. All MITA members have the option to enter interline agreements with other member airlines."

I guess GOL is trying it's best to get Varig up and running again! Good Job

Germany's Hahn Air,

WTF?!? The other carriers I can understand, but what can Hahn Air realistically offer to VRG's network?

Nothing really ineterstin here!!! only QR Airways would eventually become an potential good partner. Mexicana & Air One agreements are somewhat limited to Mexico & Italy. The rest is just silly!!! Hahn Air??? Please..........What next?

Well its not really Hahn Air the airline they made an interline agreement with, its more the travel service (part of the airline) using Hahn Air IATA tickets. They offer south America air passes apart from others. I used it myself two years ago and I flew with Aerosur and Aerolineas Argentinas but on Hahn Air tickets.

I guess that is the reason why RG made this interline agreement in order to get more business in south America.

...  rotfl  ...

But in all honesty, I do believe N383PA is on to something - HR is one of the largest GSAs these days, they're representing tons of airlines, and getting into business with them just might open up lots of opportunities for Varig.

Best of luck to RG with these interlines. I really hope they can pull it together.

DL also participates in the ticketing/baggage agreement with Varig, however DL can issue RG tickets on it´s stock, but RG can´t. Hopefully ID-90´s in Brazil will be back!

Hahn Air operates an international e-ticket issuing operation for 200+ airlines in 70+ countries. So if RG have joined their system it will increase RG's geographic coverage.

All of these interlines make sense. In fact at this very moment, QR is actually the least interesting interline agreement. It will most definitely become very important in the near future, not right now though.

Hahn Air >> see the other replies... More than justified.
Malev >> If you want access to eastern europe ex BR, this is definitely the way to go considering that Star Alliance practically controls everything else - the most important and reliable airlines anyhow - in Easter Europe (and right now Star Alliance is more interested in TAM than anything else).
El Al >> Smart move. TLV is a very important market ex BR.
Air One >> Air One is slowly but surely expanding its network in Italy and I wouldn't be too surprised to see them passing ahead of Alitalia's own domestic service in the near future. And, considering that Varig is expected to launch a dedicated flight to Italy next year, it will definitely need feeder flights.
Mexicana >> Another smart move considering that they have good domestic connections which might prove very valuable to fill Varig's new flight to/from MEX.

Cheers,

Marcelo

RG necessarily needs to get steadily at their Europeans destinations: FRA, FCO, CDG and LHR (October 29 th) in order to fits their schedules with such airlines (QR, LY, MA, AP Air One) for an eventual interline arrangement in the future.
