It seems a little early for AA to announce quarterly results. And if I remember correctly, AA usually annonces results in the morning with a conference call in the early or mid afternoon.

Quarterly/annual financial conference calls and announcements are almost always happen on Wednesdays.

That makes no sense, though. In order to keep JFK-BRU-JFK somewhat viable, and preserve connections with SN, they can't really change that schedule much, which means they'd have to fly the 767 BRU-ATH, RON it in ATH, and then send it back to BRU the next morning and then onward to JFK. Problem is: that would require an entire additional 767, so if that were the case, wouldn't they sooner just put that 767 on JFK-ATH nonstop?

A friend at AA just told me that it will be new route announcement to Tungston ( not sure of spelling) in the UK. I was hoping that it would have been the A300 replacement news.

Well you had better tell your friend that if such a place in the UK exists ( I have never heard of it), then they had better start building the Airport reall soon to accomadate AA reall soon!!
 Wink

IMHO, this is going to be a "nothing" announcement and we will all groan when and if anything does come out.

Personally I would love to see AA order the 787, as that would force UA's hand but I dont see that happening unfortunately!

The last four times I went to MAR, AA flight was delay for more than 4 hours, and this have happened all 4 this year. Last year wasn't that worse.

Don't blame AA for all of the delays. Some of the blame has to go to the FAA with its out-dated systems. Then, there's always the weather. South Florida is famous for thunderstorms that pop up out of no where.

Well, wasn't yesterday (Oct 11) supposed to be the day that everyone submitted their planned JFK (and LGA/EWR) schedules for next summer to the FAA for review? So any additions should be in those plans, no?

Also as mentioned, new flight annoucements are usually made at the beginning of the week anyway. Fridays are reserved for Fare Increases (airlines use the weekend to gauge whether competitors will go along), as evidenced by today's announcement of the domestic fare increase.

In the latest issue of the German Aviation magazine Aero International is a job add from American Airlines (Page 87) looking for mechanics to work on the following aircraft types: "B767, B777 and Airbus 330". Any idea why they said A330 ?
I can not think of any Oneworld airline using the A330 to Germany ? Cathay and Dragon Air maybe ?

Mainly MD 87/88 and A32x series besides they don´t own any A330s only A340s.

I would say that it is not a typo since the A300 is not used on flights to Europe. I would not read so much into it and it was likely meant for airlines that AA cooperates with that are using the A330.
Still it makes me wonder a little since not many Oneworld airlines are using the A330 to flights to Germany. . Browsing the database I only find 747s and A340s from Cathay, QF also only uses the 747. Dragonair only flies 747Fs to Germany.
The others don´t have any A330s (JAL, LAN) or the ones that have it (AY) don´t use them on flights to Germany.

Guys there is a forum for that, lets it keep it there. Im quite honestly sick and tired of hearing about how much someone makes flying. The pilots should be the last ones complaing, the FA's are on foodstamps, and it FAR WORSE place then pilots who fly a plane, get served and work 70 some odd hours a month and make more then most who "fly to work" 5 days a week and work 100+ every two weeks....

Thanks! Unfortunately I don't think the wife would go for it.

Six years ago when I went through 737NG training there was an American who worked out of FRA for AA as an aircraft mechanic going through 767 training. He was ex-USAF who had married a German girl and decided to stay. Evidently he was not he only one, there were a number of other Americans with similar stories working there as well. Along with German nationals of course. He told me every now and then two Americans would start speaking German to each other and remember half way through the conversation that they were both Americans. Good way to practice your German. That and marrying a German girl.  Smile

Why would they be training 80 extra Purser's as I type this for JFK specifically...something is up...

Their training 80 Pursers at JFK because 80 Pursers resigned effective the end of this month. AA requires Pursers to attend training (Purser Conference) every two years. If you don't attend, you lose your Purser qual after three months. So, these 80 were forced out, but ask them why they didn't attend the training and they'll tell you they don't want to be Purser anymore. A) Purser pay was cut in half and B) we don't get paid for the training, nor are we trip removed so the training better be offered on a day you have off. Pursers have had it and aren't willing to put up with the crap for pennies.

Rumor over at FlyerTalk is that on Monday AA will be announcing Chicago-Moscow (Domodedovo, not Sheremetyevo), and that JFK-Nice isn't far behind. What I find particularly surprising about this isn't that they'd use DME over SVO - as DME is by far the better airport - but that apparently, according at least to the rumor over on FT, the ORD-DME route will be flown with a 777! Wow!

Apparently, somebody caught the scent over at Wikipedia too, as the DME entry there now states, "American Airlines will announce on October 15, 2007 that the airline will begin flights from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Domodedovo in May of 2008."

Interesting ...

When I spoke with my uncle tonight, I just stated that AA was gonna start flying to Moscow, and I didn't mention the 772 metal that was stated on this site or FT. Jim said, "oh great, I can't wait to start checking guys out on Moscow flights, and laughed." He also stated he was at NCE a few times back when AA was at ORY and they had to divert - I understand it's a 400 mi. difference, but he's landed at NCE several times. He looked forward to getting back to NCE.

I think he knows more than he's willing to share right now - the DME run will start out as 763 and if it does well, upgrade to 772.

Yes. They already have. One of the flights becomes a 763 in December, at least for the winter. Same with BOS-LHR

Are they still planning on doing that? I cannot find any ORD-LHR 763 flights for booking on AA.com.
