RE: SIA A380 Interior Revealed!

I am surprised no one has mentioned, but Jet Airways also has First Class suites.

Emirates may have a luxurious first class suite, but the fact that it is only used on 10 aircraft in their fleet of over 100 makes it a moot point.

As of now, the real comparison is the first class suites of Singapore and Jet. I personally think Jet's looks very formal and elegant, but the video linked above did not give a good view of Singapore's suites.

Also, the suites do make the cabin look tighter and claustrophobic. I would prefer open seats. If someone really wants privacy when they travel, they will use a private chartered jet.

The C and F looks very claustrophobic.
I like the "old" open style best.
I rather fly in Y on SQ A380.

The business class is the same as on the 77W, the only reason it looks like its got no leg room is that the seat is so wide that it is focused more in a box form (creating the optical illusion that the seat isn't long at all), this is the same reason the aisle looks awefully small.

However, for the singapore suites I was expecting a tad extra, it was supposed to be a class 'beyond first class,' but now it looks like a rather good first class product, and I think it can easily be beat by the likes of BA, QF, EK, etc. on their A380's.

However, this doesn't mean that I won't be dreaming of flying this one day  cloudnine

Just a galley for the main deck economy? it looks very uncomfortable to work... when they are outside with the service and the people start moving it will be a big problem... i think 2 galley it's more comfortable. in this galley are supposed to work at least 6 person. And usually 3 person in a galley is too many...

Singapore Airlines News Release:

Innovation Marks the Unveiling of the World's First A380 Interior

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Singapore Airlines unveiled the
luxurious cabin interior on its new Airbus A380. The cabin was revealed for
the first time at the aircraft delivery in Toulouse, France.

The Singapore Airlines A380 is configured with 471 seats in three
classes, with 12 Singapore Airlines Suites -- a cabin class beyond First --
on the main deck, 60 Business Class on the upper deck, and 399 Economy
Class seats, across both decks. This new cabin design ensures that the A380
will deliver unprecedented comfort, space and luxury to Singapore Airlines'
customers.

The design process began more than five years ago, when some of the
carrier's most frequent travelers were invited to participate in workshops
to help the airline understand what was most important to customers on a
new aircraft.

Some of the new cabin products have already made their debut, to global
acclaim, on Singapore Airlines' new Boeing 777-300ER long-haul aircraft.

Coupled with the service of Singapore Airlines' award-winning cabin
crew, the A380's dramatically increased cabin size will provide customers
in all three classes with a luxurious travel experience.

Singapore Airlines Suites

The Singapore Airlines Suites are in a class of their own in terms of
privacy, luxury and personal space -- a concept where each Suite is the
customer's private cabin in the sky. Behind each set of discrete sliding
doors is a spacious and truly personal area.

The new Singapore Airlines Suites were developed by leading French
luxury yacht designer Jean-Jacques Coste of Coste Design and manufactured
by Jamco Corporation of Japan and Sicma Aero Seat of France.

The seat in each Singapore Airlines Suite is almost a meter wide (with
armrest folded away) and is fully adjustable with a simple-to-use seat
control panel to accommodate a variety of sitting and lounging positions.

When the customer is ready to sleep, the cabin crew will make up a
full- sized bed with a plush mattress. A lavish duvet and cushions,
designed by French fashion house, Givenchy, furnish this comfortable bed.

The bed is designed separately into each Suite, and does not convert
from the seat itself. Using separate sleeping and sitting surfaces, the
intelligent design of the full flat bed offers customers the choice to rest
in their preferred sleeping positions, and also allows them to sit and
lounge in bed to read or catch movies on their personal 23-inch LCD screen.

For couples traveling together, the beds in the middle two seats can be
converted to an optional double bed.

For customers who need to catch up on work, their Singapore Airlines
Suite can be transformed into a stylish office in the sky. In addition to
working in complete privacy, each Suite comes furnished with a generously
wide and height-adjustable table which can function as a workstation,
meeting table or large dining table. In addition, each Suite includes a
chaise lounge for companion seating; ambient and mood lighting; luggage
stowage space and a personal coat closet.

Customers with laptops can tap into the adaptor free in-Suite power
supply, while customers with just a thumb-drive can also get work done by
plugging into the USB ports and utilizing the comprehensive suite of office
tools available on KrisWorld; Singapore Airlines' award-winning inflight
entertainment system.

Completing the luxurious experience is the exclusive Ferragamo
amenities kit which is presented to Singapore Airlines Suites customers on
long haul flights. In a version exclusively available on the A380, the
amenities kit features the latest fragrance, F by Salvatore Ferragamo,
Ferragamo lip balm, hand cream and facial mist.

SQ definitely has to work on the interrior moodlight component (compare virgin or emirates). It just looks so plain in that white light and it misses an emotional component. It looks like you can do heartsurgera in there but definitely not like a habitat to feel well in.

Don´t want to start an A vs B argument but I doubt thing will be that different. The 787 won´t offer that kind of a first class product and in economy class things will be not that different that passengers would notice except for bigger windows . The 787 will be a great aircraft in terms of efficiency but it would not offer that kind of a flying experience like in first class of a SQ A380 simply due to its size. SQ first class is in an A388 is an experience most of us likely will never have given the ticket prices and honestly even if would have the money I would never do it......but if I am invited I certainly would not say no  Smile

WOW!!!! Richard Branson spoke of putting queen sized beds in his A380 F class. Looks like Singapore Airlines took the wind out of his sails.

I know that there's a divider between the two single beds in F but it's probably about as close to a queen sized bed as you'll get in a commercial airliner. Very impressive.

As for the rest of the F decor, was it just me or did it remind anyone of the hallway of an old steam-train? Long corridor with little rooms behind sliding doors.

No thanks.

I would rather fly in Y, although it may be not as comfortable, as I would feel guilty in F or C thinking about everyone in Y.

that is the "R" coded fare for flights from Syd-Sin, that fare is double the first class fare on the 744 which also serves the route. The new first/businss class attracts a premium and its pretty hefty.

SIA's CEO muses to the other two CEOs there that they plan to charge more for the First product on the A380.

The First cabin looks like a scaled-up version of Emirates' offering. I think the main function of the closable "cubicles" is to make it more comfortable to sleep, without thinking of other people moving around you. When you're awake, it might indeed feel cramped to keep the door and blinders closed.

I was under the assumption that Economy would have 34 inches in SIA's A380, only 32 is a disappointment. That's far more important to me than if the First suites I'll never see have closable blinders or no..

By the way, has anyone managed to make this link work properly?

A brilliant commercial, but I believe they wasted an opportunity to tie it into the A380 by not ended it with "Now Available on the new Airbus A380" instead of just showing the plane, though in time the A380 will become as recognizable as the 747 due to it's distinctive shape.

I am pleased to see that the bed is a separate "pullman style" unit that folds down and is not just part of the seat. That does put it one-up on the 77W. Also, nice to see SQ taking a page from AA's Flagship Suite with the ability for two people to sit across from each other and work/eat. Could help get businesses flying teams of people to the senior folks in R so the "lackeys" in Business can come up and work with them. Love the size of that table - should see some amazing spreads from catering.

I doubt I'd pay more then twice the 77W's going rate for F for R more then once (just to say I flew it), but if they can regularly get twice as much for it, more power to them.  thumbsup

Lord of the skies
After a series of setbacks, the first 'superjumbo' Airbus A380 has been delivered to an airline.

Airline receives first 'superjumbo'Airline receives first 'superjumbo'

pa.press.net
A dramatic light and sound show heralded the long-awaited handover of the first Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger aircraft, to an airline.

Singapore Airlines took delivery of the giant "superjumbo" at a ceremony in Toulouse, southern France, attended by journalists from around the world.

The A380 has been beset by a series of costly production delays and dogged by alleged management scandals.

Airbus claims the aircraft will transform travellers' experience of flying by offering a much quieter and more spacious cabin than its rivals.

It can carry up to 853 passengers in an economy class-only configuration, but most airlines are expected to take advantage of the extra space and carry fewer people in more luxury.

Toulouse-based Airbus boasts that the new aircraft will have a greatly reduced environment impact, describing it as "greener, cleaner, quieter and smarter".

Compared with the Boeing 747-400 jumbo jets, the A380 makes a quarter of the noise coming into land, uses 12% less fuel and produces 17% less carbon dioxide.

Airbus chief executive Thomas Enders acknowledged the company's recent troubles at the handover ceremony.

Addressing Airbus employees, he said: "I realise how unsettling recent times, particularly the last 18 months, have been, but that only serves to make this achievement all the more impressive."

British Airways, which last month announced an order for 12 A380s, said this would mean "major benefits" in noise and air quality for London's Heathrow Airport. The milestone is good news for thousands of British workers employed in the aerospace industry.

In the link above one specifically says that both have to travel on the same class (i.e. R). I agree with you that this may be a bad marketing move though.

Happy SQ also offers me double beds to set me apart from the Joneses..

No doubt some folks will do this  bored , even when alone.

By the way, has anyone managed to make this link work properly?

It is working now, for the last an hour or so. At least for me.  Smile Hollywood style mirror in the restroom along with other new features looks cool!  Cool

Nice pics thanks for the link. If your in Y class the exit row seats and the middle row exit seats seem to be the ones to go for.

expedia.co.uk has flights LHR - SIN rtn in First for random dates in May 2008 at 4600 GBP - and around 3000 GBP in Business Class (both fares with a stay over the weekend aka. "Sunday rule").

you obviously missed my reply about the A380 attracting a premium, none of your fares are R class which is the A380 first class. I just priced it on SQ and its a whopping...

TOTAL PRICE AUD 23,724.90
Fare for 1 Adult: AUD 23,119.00
Taxes & Fees: AUD 605.90
Total Fare: AUD 23,724.90

that is for 2 rides on the A380 Syd-Sin return and 2 rides on the 744 from Sin-Lhr both in F.

without flights on the A380 its...

TOTAL PRICE AUD 11,290.90
Fare for 1 Adult: AUD 10,685.00
Taxes & Fees: AUD 605.90
Total Fare: AUD 11,290.90

Most ridiculous comment of the year, congrats!

Lufthansa747, you once wrote here that you don't understand people who fly in 'cattle class' - the most arrogant comment of the year?

The SIA A380 looks great, cant wait to see the cabins of the other A380 client airliners.

I like the new SQ Suites very much but I can understand why some people may not like them . They could be claustrophobic and very isolated for some peoples tastes. Some people are anti social and love to be separated from their fellow passengers and some people see the experience of flying and meeting fellow passengers and chatting as part of the trip !!! It takes all sorts and ALL must be respected for their preferences.

Some people cant afford to fly F or C . If you can then count yourself lucky !!! I fly C 90% of the time and I enjoy and am thankful for every flight . You never know when your life may change and you will be the one in Y !!!

wow, very lavish for the upper class folk. But, tucked into the economy class with 398 other passengers? Yikes! That's an experience I'm not so sure I'm ready for!

I don't think the pax number is that important, especially when the Y cabin is divided in several sections. I'd need to experience the whole package: the seat, IFE, food, the service generally.
