Airbus Books 240 Firm/commitments In Half October

Mon Oct 15, 2007 9:01 am

Half way into October Airbus books 240 firm orders and commitments, including 51 widebodies.
It's almost like an airshow. I can't wait for the Dubai event.

Here's the model breakup

A319 A320 A321 A332 A358 A359 A388 Widebodies Narrowbodies Total
Masans 12 25 5 5 10 4 19 42 61
Wizz Air 50 50 50
Tiger Airways 30 30 30
US Airways 10 40 10 10 18 4 32 60 92
Ural Airlines 7 7 7

Total 22 152 15 15 18 14 4 51 189 240

Most of those are not booked, but MoU's - theres a vast difference between the two.

That's not true, US and Wizzair alone make "most of those" and both are firm already.

The US order is firm but we'll have to wait until it hits to O&D spreadsheet to see how many planes are firm as there are some A350 XNBs to come off (-20) and US does have orders on the system already for 15 A318s and 10 A330s so it'll be interesting to see if those are included in this 92.

But yeah it's already Airbus' 2nd best ever year for orders - my money's on it being their best ever - beating 2005.

I stand corrected.

It certainly will be interesting to see the O&D sheet, US Airways filed an SEC report on the 2nd October citing moving the original 1998 order which has 10 outstanding A330s to 2014, ordering an additional 10 for delivery in 2009, and ordering an additional 5 A330s pending board confirmation.

With Dubai coming soon chances look very good and I expect at least one new A380 customer before years end.

I wasn't aware of that - I happily stand corrected!

Ah, indeed, you're right - there's this issue of "how many planes they did order in the end". Additionally, shouldn't the Tiger order be firm also? They signed a MoU at Paris and I understood from the press release that they've firmed it up now.

From everything I'm hearing, Airbus is going to be very busy in the 4th Q this year.  wink

Hope to see a great year closing for Airbus!

Two more 380 customers would be great!
