Has NK announced the other 9 destinations? I thaught they would announce all the 10 destinations all at once.

No, they will not be announced at once, they will be announced gradually over the span of at least three months.

Good use of an aircraft that was probably sitting all night in FLL not generating any $$$$!!!

GREAT news! my family just paid 900 a piece PTY-MIA to come for my graduation. Hopefully it will become daily soon.

Now I will be able to go for Carnavales for the first time in 5 years!

PTY also shows on their route map as well.

Of the reported 9 remaining cities, I'd venture to guess a few of these could be on the list:

BZE
STX
CZM
STI
POP

then of course Colombia destinations if they get any frequencies from the USDOT

I think it is great that Spirit continues expanding!! But what I think is really really crappy is that as an employee of Spirit, we only find out about this kind of stuff through Airliners.net or other online sources and not from our own company.

Does anyone know what happened to the DTW-SFO Service?

The Route used to be a dashed orange for Summer only Service, but now it's gone.

Is this a seasonal thing, or did NK drop SFO?

That reminds me of the flights Iberia used to have to Panama from Miami, leaving at 11:55 PM. Arriving in Panama at 2:30 AM. At what time are the returning flights from Panama to FLL?

Related to their operations in Central America, NK is supplying exclusively red-eyes for FLL-MGA-FLL and FLL-SAP-FLL
Both FLL-GUA-FLL and FLL-SJO-FLL are daylights.
In addition, a seasonal red-eye worked for FLL-SJO-FLL.

Any chance for AA FLL-PTY-FLL in the future?

Probably, no. AA's FLL destinations to Central America/Caribbean cater to VFR markets and leisure travelers. PTY is a heavy business market. If AA adds another international destination from FLL, it will most likely be KIN or MGA.

The hiccup here is that BZE would have to be a daylight op unless, Bze Airports wants to invest in a better lighting system to go to round the clock ops.

That's not a hiccup. BZE is a tourist destination, not VFR. NK would likely not do a redeye to BZE.

To S. Fla...is is very very much VFR....lots of Belizeans enjoy shopping in So Fla (I don't know why!), lots of Belizean Americans living in So Fla, and lots of commuters (MIA-BZE on Mon, BZE-MIA of Fri) who want the best of both worlds. Thsi is why AA keeps it 2Xdaily.....all of it is very high yielding too....AA sends the low yield via DFW.

As a matter of fact I know of a few of the commuters who actually live in FLL.

Having said that a 319 will be overkill...unless they come in with rock bottom fares, then every Tom Dick and Harry will want to go to Sawgrass mills to shop.

Not in the traditional sense, and nowhere near the bulk needed to support a redeye. Spirit plans to fly to Belize has a daylight. The majority of the traffic is US-originating tourist traffic.

Not with a redeye schedule. Plus, Copa uses Concourse J which makes FLL look like an even bigger dump than it already is (and on top of that, FLL's immigration makes MIA's seem smooth).

I'm not saying some people won't. However, many people won't for various reasons. First, FLL is not as conviently located to Miami for business travelers; secondly Spirit is offering only three flights a week. COPA offers three flights a day. Third COPA flies to a much nicer and easier to use facility, with faster security and faster immigration. Fourth, COPA offers flights are typical times, not redeyes (which do work for Latin markets, but aren't everyone's favourite).

People like me wont mind (poor college student), I am trying to buy a ticket on the inaugural flight to go to carnivales in las tablas! (start feb 1st!) but the website wont let me purchase it, will call in tomorrow, I am a Elite at Spirit so it should not be that difficult, will let you know how it goes!

CM and AA might have to drop prices a little bit, but the effect wont be that much, it may be the end of 900 PTY-MIA but we might still see 6 or 7 hundred dollar fares.

I think it is crappy that NK charges the passangers for checking their bags for a trip. Also, they are charging for any and all drinks and snacks on board the aircraft. NK was a nice airline to work with as a travel agent. But, now they are just rude to T/A's and could care less if we book anyone on them. $10.00 for the first checked bag is alot of money when you are a family of 4 or more. And they are pulling out of DTW (their offices and pilot base). So we will see the F/A's base go. Their Res center in Eastpoint is closed.

It won't be the end of $900 fares just yet. Spirit isn't adding enough capacity, at least at first, to make a significant dent.

So what? if you want free baggage check in and free snacks and drinks then pay the 7-8-9 hundred dollar fares in CM or AA. With NK you pay for a seat, period.

And besides it says it in big red bold letters when you purchase your ticket that you can save 5 bucks if you book your bast online or it will cost you ten at the counter. People want 300 dollar fares and lobster dinner with champagne, PTVs and 40 inch seat pitch, be realistic.

I think all airlines should charge for bags, or maybe one free and the rest charged, bags weigh, and weight increases fuel burn, why should I that only take a carry on with me have to pay for the bags of the lady that wants to bring half the clothes in Dolphin Mall with her?

While there are new destinations coming on, looking ahead into March, some cities are seeing frequency cuts:

Cayman- Friday, Sunday
Guatemala City- Tues, Fri, Sun
Managua- Mon, Thurs, Sat
San Pedro Sula- Tues, Fri, Sunday
St Maarten- Sat

I don't know if this has to do aircraft availability with new destinations, with gate space, or if NK just simply has not finalized their schedule that far down the line yet with all the new cities being started up.

BTW... Spirit finally put out a press release:

LAX-GUA is gone effective January 8th.

While Spirit offered some very attractive rates, the carriers unwillingness to work with the ethnic travel agencies and consolidators which pretty own the traffic on these routes killed their chances.

Also does not help Spirit lacked any real advertising getting its name out above all the noise in the huge LA media market if it was to have any chance in selling directly to consumers via its preferred method of the internet.

In addition to SJO service, I think they would be wise to try to apply for landing rights to LIR.
I think once they introduce PTY and BZE, they got it pretty much covered. TGU only has service to MIA with Taca and AA. Maybe they don't need more? But San Salvador could use another carrier to compete head on with TA on FLL-SAL and LAX-SAL. This will be great for the competition. I am in favor of more expansion to Latin America.

As for BZE, I think it's a tourist spot, yes, but many people I know who live there say there's not much to see - pérhaps because they are use to it. Why expand there? So much service already.
Here's the current list of US operators (except TA) that fly to BZE.

AA - DFW, MIA
CO - IAH, EWR,
DL - ATL - already downgraded to CR7 from mainline, LAX.
NK - with the new service, FLL.
TA - IAH, MIA
US - CLT (by the way, I see a lot of travellers from YYZ with tags to BZE via CLT).

What's so interesting about BZE?

Oh good. In Roatan, not a lot to see there. Just an island. Yet some flights go there from IAH and ATL.
LIR has flights, scheduled and chartered, from all over. I don't see how it is a relief airport for SJO since it is so far away to the north. SJO is expanding well, but there are times that I see it quite empty.
