Still looking too. Wasn't on the IAD to Zurich flight on November 4th so it may have gone to Frankfurt that night if it exists!

That's some old shiot. BA is quickly becoming just an average player in the long haul Int'l market. BA is a great airline, but their market differentiators are decreasing rapidly.

How can that be so with the newly launched Club World, - a new First on its way, and improvements to World Traveller Plus in the planning?

Like any airline, some of its products are now due for a refresh - as is the cyclical nature of product development and since it introduced some of its products the competitors have come out with others. When you are first to market with a product like new (now old) Club World, you are also bound to be one of the first who has to refresh it, the same with any other product.

Its financial results would suggest its more than an average player in the long haul market. As would its comprehensive route network.

If your travelling with someone its easy to chat or to play cards etc. But if I'm alone the partition goes up and I just chill out and only ever see the seat mate when I nip to the toilet. I think most single passengers make use of the partition i.e. I've seen it more in the up position than the down as most single passengers prefer the privacy.

I'm going to Barbados in Club in 13 days time so I'll try and take lots of pics and do a trip report with lots of Club seat pictures in it to try and show the privacy. The 777 isnt as much fun as the 747 though Sad

I almost always sit backwards, as I prefer the window. I've sat both in the BA 777 and BA 744. Personally, my fav seat is the forward exit window of the 744. Good leg room, and you can get out w/o climing over the aisle seat in front of you. This is probably my biggest complaint -- you're still having to climb over people in most window seats. The same down side applies to cabin services -- the FAs have to reach over people, unilke in conventional systems where you can sort of step around a seat.

That said, by alternating the way the seats face, I feel like there is more space in the cabin. As you're only facing "1/2" the people (as it were) you seem to have fewer people.

The BA club world cabin offers a "privacy" screen between you and your seat mate. I'm sure UA will provide something similar. Of course, you're still looking at the person in the aisle seat in the row behind yours.

One other note about flying backwards. At take off and landing, your seat isn't "upright" per se. It has a slight bend in it (a pre programmed position) that allows you to sink into the seat at take off/landing.

Over all, I like it. I don't know what the length of the seat will be on UA, but at 5'6'' I can completely strech out on the 6' bed BA offers. I imagine UA's will be similar. However, if the foot rest is "seperate" from the seat (as is the case with BA CW) tall pax have issues as you can't stick your feet beyond the footrest, as it is supported by a fixed pillar thing.

The new airplane has arrived...It's currently parked at IAD at gate D5 and will make up Flight 952 IAD to FRA tomorrow night. Great flying to anone who will be on this flight with the new 22" LCD tvs in business and first. The entire plane got a complete overhaul. New first and Business, new carpet all around, new seat covers in economy ( no more old dingy red and blue )....

Does anyone know for sure what changes have been made in Y or if there are 777 style bins?

I suspect part of the delay was a last minute decision to go ahead and refit the entire cabin with the newer bins. I could be wrong but it seems pretty obvious. The best part of the update is that ALL of the announcements are now automated. No more flight attendants rambling on the PA. Very exciting overall to see a fresh clean modern plane. NOW LETS GET SOME PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is more likely that the best part of the update is that ALL of the business and first class seats are 180 degree lie flats, with AVOD, but I could be wrong. Maybe more people are into announcements rather than comfort?

Congrats to United! I think updating their current aircraft rather than prematurely getting brand new planes will prove to be a very wise business decision for United.

I know this question has been asked a thousand times, but when the 747s go in for the retrofit, does anyone know if the Economy section will get PTVs?

No, but I wondered if in the very least UA were going to ditch the antiquated screen at the front of the cabin and at least install overhead monitors throughout the Y cabin??

I do know they are removing those screens from the 747s and installing LCDs.

Now, whether that is a large LCD on the forward wall or drop-down LCDs over the seats like on their A319s and A320s I cannot say.

Im sure that is going to be the main attraction, I was just being little funny referring to the select few f/a's who love to hear their voice on the PA. The one strange update is tat 2 f'as now are required to do a live demo along with the video safety demo over the wings Smile That is going to feel odd for them!

Indeed some are. BA similarly has had quite success offering rearward facing seats in its Club World product.

If you want some specific general charts see http://suitedreams.united.com/
Click on "Seat Map" on left hand side.

For specific charts on a flight you might be on, they are loaded appropriately based on the configuration planned for that specific day. So if you will be on a reconfigured plane, such a map would be loaded.
