ASA yesterday had flight 4806
ATL-
SBN divert to
FWA due to fog on
SBN. The forecast did not show the wx to improve for at least two-three hours so the decision was made to cancel 4911
SBN-
ATL and fly the aircraft
FWA-
ATL. The affected passengers were provided ground transportation from
FWA to
SBN.
Due to the diversion, there was a gap in a/c availability in the 2000-2300z timeframe and no spare a/c available to cover. It was necessary to cancel a round trip in that time period or else operate the at least one roundtrip flight with a three hour delay waiting for the diverted aircraft to return to
ATL. The decision was made to cancel 4829/4270
ATL-
OKC-
ATL since there was ample passenger protection on the
DL extra sections operating yesterday. Super80DFW had it mostly right.
I could tell you how I know all this but then I would have to kill you.
