Loking at the prices still available for cities like SWF, MKE and CHA, does anyone think SX may pull the plug on these cities even before starting? Even "strong performing" cities like RIC was initially have tapered off drastically...

I don't see why not. It's not a very rare thing. Allegiant at Baton Rouge (2003) and Marion (2007); American Airlines at Barcelona (in 2003; they are starting BCN this year, again) and Newcastle (2005); LTU to Melbourne, FL (2007); Northwest to Madrid (2003); Qantas to Chicago (2002); South African Airways to Chicago (2006). If routes don't perform well, even in advance, it's best to cut them.

Just keep in mind with SX that ticket price doesn't completely give an indication of how full a given flight is. The shorter the route, the less the ticket prices can be to where they can still make the profit margin they want.

By all means, SX should adjust it's business model as needed to ensure adherence to business plan projections and burn rate, they seem to have a mature leadership group that responds decisively when needed, much like G4 seems to be doing too.
The ticket prices reflected on the SX website don't tell the whole story.
VX was offering a buy one get one free special for Transcons last week , making their yields quite low, yet nobody was on anet saying anything negative about that.

they don't tell us anything either way, without their business plan , or their operating numbers the only information that can be posted are the data points that are available:
1. Average LF's were 77% over the summer season
2. Average fares are 90-100 dollars each way
3. Ancillary sales are above expectation
4. They received additional financing from a division of the Bank of China for 17 A319's on top of the initial 160 million in credit facilities available
5. They have added frequency to several existing cities, indicating some sort of demand that works for their management
6. They dropped 2 cities and 3 frequencies to the west coast in response to higher oil prices, and refocused assets on higher utilization via shorter turns.
Does this mean they are profitable? No, it's just information that has been factually verified and has been posted for people that want to know about what SX is doing.
If in the mean time 4-5 people would like to interpret these as negatives and say SX will be out of business, then they can certainly do that.
I think it would be good to ask each of the anti-sx posters what will the date be that SX ceases operation, that will be good to reference at a further date

Funny how people will pay for everything @ $10 or whatever, but I feel for the last minute pax who get the high priced ticket and still have to pay for everything. I think if I had a $250 SX vs $300 WN say CMH-BUR*, I'd take the WN flight. But that's just me.

If they do, CHA would get my vote for most likely candidate. That's a route that makes zero sense, despite the idea they are trying to attract northern Atlanta flyers. It is a route doomed to failure if they do start it, so why not?

That SGJ thing is pathetic. The first good tropical storm, and that thing is outta here. I understand it was thrown up in a hurry, but it certainly doesn't exactly instill a sense of seriousness on behalf of pax when they see that as the "terminal".

LOL. One would hope so! I'd be terribly unhappy if it were lost. I assume there aren't too many amenities in that tent, but hey, save those $$$ to buy overpriced items onboard.

Funny Joke but I hope you read my link to the article. I think SGJ would have to be more concerned about a powerful thunderstorm than a tropical system. Besides I am sure that the tent meets the regulations for weather.

Absolutely, people are in a good mood when they are going to vacation and they buy things they normally would not.
It's kind of funny how people who want to pay 20-80% more for a ticket so they can buy on board also complain about SX. SX might actually be a little better in that on even shorter flights of any length you can still get food. On a major BOB is typically not even offered on flights less than 2.5 hours, so if you want food you can't even get it on the legacy .carriers.

It's also funny that DEN land-side terminal is also a tent technically yet no one trashed on that terminal for being a "tent"

I note in other threads you get highly offended and agitated when people "put words in your mouth" or make implications based on statements you did not make. Not once on any thread did I ever use the word trailer trash. Thus, if you are going to make condescending statements to the effect, do not do so under a quote of mine.
