LAN New Business Class: Which Routes?

Thu Dec 06, 2007 8:52 pm

Up to now, LAN has introduced its new business class product in 14 out of 21 B767s. http://plane.lan.com/files/info_viaj...as/html/index_minisitio-es-cl.html

Could anyone make a list of the routes and destinations which receive the new business product.

Thanks,

It´s my understanding the 767´s are assigned randomly to the different routes. You can hav the chance to fly in the new Bussiness Class on any route flown by 767 (eg, not AKL-SCL), and then just hopethe 767 that will do the job that day is one of the reconfigured ones.

I flew SCL-HAV both ways on the old seats, and the crew said the new config rarely flew on the Caribbean routes because it was a leisure market. They had cheap upgrade specials on those routes because of it though, so it was good for me.

New configuration are mostly used on Chile-USA-Mexico-Lima-Caracas-Bogota-Buenos Aires.
There product is by far the best in Latin America.

You are very right!
3 days ago i flew EZE-SCL on LA 763 and unfortunately it had the old seats across all classes. When i asked the crew about it, they confirmed that all 763s rotate randomly across all LA's network.

From what I've been told you can almost count on having the new product on the nonstop flights between SCL-JFK and SCL-LAX.

I have seen ads on television and indeed the new LA business cabin looks quite premium and comfortable (add modern too). I was wondering, though, whether AM's new Clase Premier (business) in its 777-200ER fleet is comparable to the LA new business class.
Upcoming flights:
April/May: AM MEX-SCL 788 (J), AM EZE-MEX 789 (J).

There is not an specific route for the retrofit aircrafts. All 763 flies in all 763 routes, excepting the three LAN Argentina´s B763s.

This is an old question, for more info you can check a similar topic:

However here is a completed list of the upgraded B763 with new interior: Premium Business and new Economy.

RJ_Delta:

Thanks for the comprehensive update on LAN new business class product. It seems GRU and GIG also receive the new product quite frequently. I will fly LAN SCL-GRU on 15/12 and therefore hope to get the new product. My last flight with LAN on business class was very disappointing as I got the old seats, which are really inferior.

Well, in terms of leg-room, LA Premium has 74", AM Premier 60" and regarding AVOD, LA has 15.4" screens vs 10.4" in AM. Plenty of space but weird, because 30J with that seat pitch and 191Y on a 763, looks packed; for instance, AM 763 has only 209 seats.

One can expect great service, amenities, haute cuisine and wines in both of them. After viewing the flash, my perception is that LA Premium and AM (new) Premier are comparable products.

I agree. And it also means LA and AM new completely redesigned products makes them the best airlines in the Latin American region, i.e. with the best onboard product.

Hardi,

I almost forgot to tell you... CC-CZW (J30/Y191) and CC-CWV (J30/Y191) are regular visitors of GRU/GIG; the latter ever since it was delivered back in May (07), so odds are you will really get a a plane with the new product.

Cheers,

Well at this moment you have lucky, according with LAN the CC-CWY will operate LA750/751, and the CC-CZW has been assigned for LA754 flight. So keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks. Apparently LAN twice daily B767 service to GRU-GIG are getting quiete frequently the new configurated aircraft.

RG has resumed GRU-SCL this weekend, that competition on the route will get fierce. But with LAN superp new business class product, LAN can be comfortably considered the best airline flying between the busy route SCL-GRU/GIG.

I have another LAN related question that hopefully someone can answer. Do the seats (in economy) have a power port to plug a laptop into? And if so what kind of adapter would I need?

They have power ports in the new Y cabins, affirmative.
As far as I recall, it's either standard EmPower at 110V or the same as Chile mainland plugs (European type) on 220V.
The new LAN economy class is the best Y product I have ever experienced by far. I would not hesitate to take a trip on them when they have this product on MAD-SCL or FCO-EZE for that matter.

I just found out today that im taking them to SCL and EZE in Feb on a routeing of LAX-SCL-EZE-SCL-LAX in economy. Im on A340's on the LAX-SCL segments. Does LAN have power ports in every seat or just scattered like AA does?

The A340 does not have power ports in Y, because it lacks the redesigned cabin.
I have no clue about the location of the power ports (whether they are present on all seats, or just a few).

LAN drop SDQ in 2003 when they closed its subsidiary LAN Dominicana. Actually in the Caribbean LAN serves PUJ, CUN and HAV. Probably in the near future LAN starts more frequencies to Domincan Republic after the Open Skies Agreement between Chile and Dominican Republic.
