Can anyone in the know confirm this? Would the flight most likely be to MAD? What kind of equipment could we expect on the route?
YYC is rocking people!

Quoting OceansWorld (Reply 1): How about an A343 ? |
Quoting UPPERDECKFAN (Reply 4): I'd be absolutely shocked if this comes true, it doesn't make any sense for IB to serve YYC before YUL or YYZ and several other cities in the US (LAX, DFW, etc) |
Quoting C172Akula (Reply 5): Well we did shock a lot of people when some of us on here said LH was coming to YYC, lot of naysayers with all of our supposed rumours and scuttlebutt, then look what happened! Booya baby! |
Quoting FLYYUL (Reply 10): so tell me how Iberia is goign to make Calgary work, with no connections to the oil patch? Do you even know the traffic mix out of Calgary? Remember that its currently past the workday in Spain, and yet there is no corporate announcement on the Iberia website. |
Quoting C172Akula (Reply 13): I just love how quickly the YYC hate can come out of the woodwork with even the potential for something like this. Like I said no surprise. |

Quoting AirCatalonia (Reply 23): Or are they expecting some kind of economic boom in Calgary? |
Quoting C172Akula (Reply 13): YYC hate |
Quoting FLYACYYZ (Reply 25):
Is that some little used Freudian expression like "Penis envy"?? |

Quoting C172Akula (Reply 13): Perhaps Encana is subsidizing the route so their employees can go to Spain |
Quoting AirCatalonia (Reply 23): Or are they expecting some kind of economic boom in Calgary? |
Quoting C172Akula (Reply 35): Oh it still exists |
Quoting RAFVC10 (Reply 14): If I don't remember bad, Air Comet has flown from MAD to YMQ this summer with 310 equipment (not Trudeau. Was an airport at one hour driving from downtown but I don't remember exactly which airport was). |
Quoting Threepoint (Reply 38): 5 years too late...watch out, the skin of the bubble is getting thin. You heard it here first. |
Quoting Threepoint (Reply 38): The YYC hate-on does not exist. Let it go. It should exist, if you live in southern BC |
Quoting Threepoint (Reply 38): Happy 319 spotting. You don't get much of those in YYC do you? |
Quoting C172Akula (Reply 41): breathing room is something we need. You know not all of us are oil & gas dependant here right? We've survived one bust and are ready for it to crash tomorrow and still survive. |
Quoting C172Akula (Reply 41): Where in southern BC is this? Surely not the Columbia valley where the amount of investment from Alberta has been massive and led to some pretty damn prosperous times for people that actually know how to conduct business. |
Quoting BO__einG (Reply 45): Holy shit! Calgary does have flights to spain, or more like once did have flights to Spain. They were from the ones I have seen strictly charters. I cannot ever imagined that they were looking at YYC, its very very unusual spaniards have an interest in Calgary market. I'm not even sure if they fly to any cities in North America period. Just JFK perhaps? Definetly not canada! Give me an entire day to soak this all in, I thought this was the Lufthansa news being recapped again but noooO!! Oh ya, they do Miami as well.
