Officials cite rising fuel costs and a downward economic trend as the reasons behind the cancellation. In addition, they say, the popular Fort Lauderdale tradition does not have a title sponsor.
"The event is not economically viable without a title sponsor and corporate sponsorships are not the same as they were, especially during this more sensitive economic climate," said Michael Goodman, public relations spokesperson on behalf of the Air & Sea Show. "The event producers are very proud of what they have created and brought to Fort Lauderdale, however, without a title sponsor they are unable to produce this multi-million dollar event."

This is a real shame, but not a surprise.
I guess it can be more profitable to sponsor an exclusive party at the Versace mansion or at a VIP lounge than this event.

Well, at least the Jacksonville Sea and Sky Show is at NAS Jax this year...better than the beach show, IMO.

The latest Blue Angels schedule lists Fort Lauderdale dates May 3/4. Will these be cancelled, or will the Blue Angels still fly absent a proper Air & Sea Show?
